Have you ever used your fuel in your Geri Cans?

Yes! Just bought a rattle siphon to make it easier. I've used my Gerry Can gas for my generator, Jeep, starting fires, and helping others. It's a lifesaver when you need it...otherwise, just flammable dead weight!

    Has Overlanding Become Trendy?

On one side, Social Media is making Overlanding Trendy in terms of more people posting pictures, stories, videos, IG/FB etc because those medium for sending info are so prevalent these days. But I also argue it is THOSE SAME medium that are making overlanding so popular today....People are...

Made a Trail Rack for Jeep/Tire Carrier

Made another Mikeybilt Creation. Used some Uni-strut/Super-strut, hardware and an old wagon basket to make a trail basket for the OR FAB Tire Carrier. Came out really well and finished it off after fitment with a few coats of bedliner. I am pretty stoked with it. I can hold my small ice chest...

Can anyone tell me if there is a primitive, boondocking camping spot between Reward Mine and Cerro Gordo? Thanks, M

Cerro Gordo Spring Break April 9th-12th

Still planning to complete this trip in April. So far I have 4 other rigs (5 total) going from 4/9-4/12. I will need to call the DV Ranger District for info on roads if possible. I have modified our trek a bit to account for some vehicles that are not high clearance. So far, my route is...

    Gold Panning in Central California?

I have been panning for about a year now. It is just a fun way to be outdoors with the light possibility of a payout. I too have been watching the rain and how it is affecting the waterways....for Gold! Eureka!!!!

Cerro Gordo Spring Break April 9th-12th

I am planning on taking the route that @Reconnoiter discussed on their trip. I've never been through this area, but would like to stay on the beaten path as much as possible. I will be coming from Fresno then through Lone Pine. This is all pre-planning, but want to get an idear of the "best"...

Cerro Gordo Spring Break April 9th-12th

Howdy All, My father in law, brother in law and son are planning an overland trip to Cerro Gordo in April for a few days. They are wanting to go somewhere different and after seeing the trip recently with the OB group, it looks like such a fun adventure. I will begin my trip planning, but...

Do I need chains if I'm going to big bear area.

I would carry them at least. $1000 fine in CA for not having them IF there is snow on ground or slippery conditions. Even with 4WD and M/S tires, the CHP may ask...and check.

    Tablets for navigation.

Thank you @stringtwelve and @1Louder for the feedback. I will mount on dash, perhaps window mount on driver door side. I may actually perooze Craigslist for a used model on the cheap....or on the way back to work from lunch, I thought, why not just dedicate my old S3 to my GPS in the vehicle?

    Back Country Navigator Review

I am finding as I drove back from lunch the Cal Topo map that comes with BCN is VERY outdated. I was pretty much driving in fields 90% of the time as I followed it back to work (I work in Ag, out in the country) and many of the roads I was on, that are several years old were not on the map.....I...

    Tablets for navigation.

I am toying with the idea of adding a stand alone GPS Unit for my Jeep, but wanted to see if anyone had a recommendation for an inexpensive/cheaper Tablet that could be used. I am looking for a smaller unit (9"?) that would work on my dash. Any recommendations or experience would be...

    Back Country Navigator Review

Spent some time last night messing with the BC App and seem to be getting the hang of it a bit better. I was trying to use a map from another app I downloaded called "Offroad Atlas" that has very detailed maps that will work with BC. The major issue I was having in using both apps together was...
