Got a little excited tonight and threw the sheet steel in the trailer to help motivate the build for this weekend. Still need to trim it, then weld it in. This gives a glimpse of what the bottom section will look like.

RTT requires a flat rack. Also you can hang things over the edge of a flat rack and it doesn’t look weird.
Really no reason to use a basket if things are strapped/bolted down up there.

I wouldn't go slapping anything on without knowing what you have in the first place... What is the spring rate on the Lowe's trailer? What is the spring rate on the Tacoma leaf spring?
My next truck will likely be a 2007-2010 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab. Why? Because those years were available with the long bed and the manual transmission combination, which means less tranny maintenance, and more fun to drive.
By 2007 the Frontiers had the rear ends fixed (stouter, didn’t break...
Got some more done over the last couple days.
1. Axle flip
2. Removed the small leaf from the leaf spring pack
3. Welded in 2” center sleeve
4. Welded in rear hitch receiver
5. Welded up some parts of the underside that had not been welded from the manufacturer
I’m probably not building this...
Moving right along...
Found one corner was out of square (height-wise). Cut the old weld off, ground it down, adjusted the height, re-welded.
Welded the tailgate in for rear support.
Removed a stripped hex bolt from a wheel adapter...
Ordering steel this week for the “super structure”...

Most adjustable shocks have rebound adjusters at a minimum, which allows...
Everything extra is ground off now. Ready for wheels next, then a measurement for the tongue tubing. About 12-15 man hours in the cutting/grinding so far.

We did a 7-day Oregon Coast trip last summer (starting and ending in the Boise area). Here are our day-to-day notes with times, addresses, and info for every part of the trip. There is not one thing we would change if we had to do it again. Bandon Beach was our favorite, could have spent days...
Buy something for $5-6k because you are gonna scratch it and beat it up offroad anyway. Use another $5k for mods and maintenance. Take the other $30k and buy a house. You'll thank me when you're 40.

From a production perspective:
I feel the same way as MazeVX. The amount of time it would take to do this would be crushing. I know, because I started a 30 minute TV program at my last church. Hours of editing each week, and we had stationary cameras that we just clicked record on! Now imagine...
