5 Essential Tips for Car AC Gas Refilling

I'm glad he didn't actually tell you how. Some of what he posted is incorrect. Maybe they do things diffrent in Dubai. On the other hand he kept saying bring it to a shop.

    Extra weight- Better brake?

They dont "balloon" per say but expand. This is also not an age thing. Without getting into the why, the lines will harden with age making them less flexible. Braded lines use a Teflon core with steel braid and Kevlar layered over it. Almost no flex. Here's an experiment. Four wheel disc...

    Extra weight- Better brake?

A few questions for clarity. Do you want more stopping power, the brakes to grab further up on the pedal stroke or both? Stating that you upgraded to power stops is good but what compound? Brakes are like sand paper. If (for example) Stock was like 250 grit and you "upgraded" to 500 grit, it...

    Tahoe or Ram 2500

Both vehicles are pretty much worn out. What's your budget for baselining and what mod's are you looking at? Are you capable of doing all the work or are you dependent on a shop? Solid axle is strong with less parts. Independent is just as good if you build it correctly. Driveline lifespan is...

DIY Portable welder/ Self powered welder. Updated 2/11

I tried a couple diffrent controllers, nothing fit. I would have to have one made. I went to a 10 ohm potentiometer (20 watt?) as a speed control in the main box (for testing). So far it works great. I will probably put that in the gun. I was going to do a final write up on it once I move it...

NPS in Utah will start citing AWD vehicles on 4WD roads…better know difference

+1 on this I was part of the AAT program out here for a couple of decades. It was bad enough that the maintained trails always risked being closed. The unmaintained ones had no chance. What they used to try and close the maintained ones was either "disturbing" the wildlife or safety. If someone...

Anyone had problems with the stock Jeep auxiliary battery? If so, how did you fix it?

+1 about jeepers29 post. Predicted battery life span is 3-4 years. Here in CA you can have a six year old battery that still starts the car. According to the owner "the battery is still good". Unfortunately, its not. "If" one battery took out the other battery, they were both bad to start with...

oem bumper damage vs “offroad” bumper damage

It depends on who made the bumper. Mine would have damaged the dumpster. On the front, if the bumper isn't made correctly, upper loop "grill protectors" will smash the whole front in when the frame flex's on light impact. They call that a damage multiplier

NPS in Utah will start citing AWD vehicles on 4WD roads…better know difference

HMM My Cruiser is AWD. I think the distinction should be "High Clearance Vehicles" only. Its entirely possible this came about with low clearance vehicles needing to be rescued.

M416 trailer. Rim and tire ?

You don't have to loose your park brake. Order your axle with with it. My M-100 didn't have a park brake so I added it and did a custom park brake on my tear drop. I know there's a couple of bolt patterns you cant get on the axle (I think one is 5X5), I do know you can get 5x5.5, 5x4.5 and 6X...

Inverter recommendation for 100aH deep cycle battery?

Another vote for Victron. Most of this technology was perfected in motor homes and travel trailers years ago. Victron has been there for decades. Inverters and DC-DC converters also. Their prices reflect the actual market where the others jumped on the overland band wagon and charge more for the...

Sine wave - modified vs pure

Good answer. I will add. Quite a few companies have added better "filtering" into their systems (also leaving out the technical part). The issue isn't as bad as it used to be. Will your electronics have issues? maybe/maybe not. For us, we need equipment to be as efficient as possible. This is...

Advice on solar setup for Jeep with Ursa Minor

Forgot to add. The Jackery takes up space. Spending several days in the Jeep means your playing Tetrus with the gear, each time you pack/unpack for camp. Yeah, it has a spot but if you don't really need it.

Advice on solar setup for Jeep with Ursa Minor

Keep it simple. Panel, charge controller, battery. If you want to bring the Jackery for other things, do that. I have several USB ports and various accessories wired to battery (B+) in all my vehicles. Both my vehicles and my trailer run a permanent solar panel. This keeps my battery wired...

    Backcountry Internet Gear/Providers

Where does it say that on their site? This is something I'm looking to get. As far as I can tell, this is not an add on. Also its 50 gig not 30 gig and $50 a month. Starlink Roam
