Rear 2/3 deck in the Gladiator under ARE shell. 1515L T slot extrusion, 12mm Baltic Birch, swiveling lashing points. Increases bed capacity by about 80%. Still have to finish my charcoal canister for the fuel tank, but it's about 95%

Got the interior wiring knocked out, got the tail wiring mostly done except for the grounds, and got the engine bay wiring harness laid out. Waiting on the copper tubing kit for the oil pressure gauge, removed the wiper hardware out of the old windshield frame, hand pained the Jeep embossing on the tailgate, and the CJ-5 emblems. You can tell where I was a little shaky on some of that lol. And epoxied the original worn/faded AMC emblem back on the tailgate.

Jeep is looking like a winner!

Its starting to look like something now. Brakes bled, wiring nearing completion. It does crank. Both fenders and grille on. Shifter installed, oil pressure line ran gotta clean up the wiring around the battery.
Even with the painless harness wiring is still time consuming. Im glad i decided to NOT build my own harness.

Made some good progress yesterday. Fired it up for the first time since I started the tear down. Waterpump is eating itself though so have a new one coming in today, about to go out and pull off the old one in preparation. Still waiting for front seats to come in along with front bumper and bumperettes. Prepped the new windsield frame with the wiper hardware and whatnot. Going to get it in place before putting in glass. Hope to have it inspected and registered in the next week or two. Fuel gauge doesn't work. Not sure what's going on there. I think it may be the sender but I checked it with the OHM meter before putting it back in and it checked out.

Well, I found out why my tailgate all of a sudden wouldn’t open. Broken plastic clip that holds tailgate rod. Taped it for a temp fix until I can obtain parts.

Note - the tailgate pop luck has a one way security screw. Had to bust out dremmel and make a cut deep enough to get my flat head in there to unscrew it.

Fixed it with new parts (bezel and lock). Then of course when I was completely done I noticed a spring was missing on the driver’s side latch lol. At least tailgate lock is fixed.

Water pump removed waiting for replacement. Back seat in along with its seatbelts. Windshield frame, windshield and wiper assembly in place, tailgate installed, finished up the battery tray install, the support arm that came with it was way too short but I happened to have another support arm that looked like it as for a fender that fit perfectly.

Installing that glass took a good chunk of the day lol

170k. Its actually pretty simple with the proper tools. The 52mm socket is the hardest to find for the spindle nuts. Luckily I bought one months ago when I changed the rear rotors. Just make sure you have lots of rags or towels cause its messy lol.
I won't be doing that for awhile if ever. I'm too old to have that kind of fun. I was wondering about the mileage because I am @ 102K and trying to figure out when I may need to have the same work done on my rig. I doubt I will live long enough for me to need it done if I don't start getting some miles on my rig soon.
Thanks for the info.

those plastic clips are a pain in the butt. had "custody" of a 2001 3500 dually a few years back (belonged to the Chuck my Burb is named for) and those things broke 5 or 6 times over the course of a couple years.

This is the first time I had tailgate latch issues since I took ownership in 2013 or so. I knew that it was kinda sticky at times but with COVID and WFH and always tinkering in the back tailgate, its days were numbered. Today, I also replaced the left and right latches so I basically have new hardware on all the main components of the tailgate. At least now I know how to replace all the latches.

Almost there. Most of the soft top hardware is on. Front bumper on, front seats in, New water pump in, no coolant yet and belts are loose. Letting the RTV cure till tomorrow, horn in, rearview mirror in. Once the wiper blades come in it'll actually pass inspection.
