WoW! That's a great savings! It's always nice to find great gear at great prices.
You're absolutely right! I almost started falling into the whole "gotta have what the YouTubers have" rut but I've realized that there are some amazing products out there that don't cost an arm and a leg. I've also realized that I don't need it all.

Yep! Just have to do a little research and shop around a bit, and give the "Little Guy" a chance, rather than dumping a boatload of $$ on the very well-known brands!

Washed the 4Runner today, then spent 30 min with a razor blade, scraping the sticky crap from the tree buds, off the
windshield. Now I just have to figure out how to get it off the rest of the truck.‍‍:screamcat:

That's the best looking bumper I've ever seen for a 4 Runner. I like how it will protect your rear quarter panels at the bottom. One that nice for my LRD2 is well over 2 grand ! Where is your spare tire located currently, inside or outside under ?
Thanks! I’m a huge fan of their products. Top notch quality at reasonable prices (it was still $2k.. relatively inexpensive compared to others on the market). Since the stock spare tire location no longer works and without swing out mounted I’ll be running without one. I have a patch kit and on board air if things get wild.

Never fun. Might I suggest a clay bar as a first, non abrasive, solution. Good luck!

Worked on the little pop p Saturday added a tractor supply storage box for small items. First I reinforced it with L-brackets at the seams then I raptor lined it for better environmental protection. Fab'd up some brackets from Spare metal in the garage and mounted it , then I had to move the propane bottle so I fab'd up another brack and installed it.

Little stuff

Discovery II with the aluminum V8 I was running a bit hot 206 at idle over 197 pre head gasket repair.

Replaced :
  • Radiator - mine was 7 years old and of unknown status
  • Thermostat Black 78C - the aftermarkets are really all over the place
Temps are nice now at 183 to 185 at idle over 20 minutes at 24C deg external temps

And more importantly got my RTT mounted, Tepui Ayer 2 man - if you are very friendly it holds 2.

Give us a little update on other mods you have made on your jewel. I am assuming the thermostat you bought was the 180 degree f
one. Do you know what the cause of overheating was or did you decide to just replace everything to avoid future heating problems. Did you have water in the oil that would indicate a bad head gasket.

@Lanlubber

I had a head gasket issue in December the head gasket was just letting go literally, I had no over heat and some over pressure, just enough to spew AF out of the overflow. I fixed that in the driveway under an improvised shelter in January /Feb great fun but nor really hard.
Prior to the head gasket issue I ran 188.6 to 197 ish with a grey soft open thermostat
I did do a cooling system flush post head gaskset just to make sure everything was in good shape.

The I noticed at hiway speed 188 to 194 climbing under load this was new but not serious, but the climb to 206 idling was.

In the end after testing everything the grey thermostat was shot, it no longer opens correctly. In addition the rad seemed to have to some mud brown sludge, found it on the SAI sensor so it got replaced as preventive maintenance.

I replaced the thermostat with a Black 78c made for the Td5 Disco ,I have an Inline mod thermostat that uses standard North Americian thermostats which I am still working out how I want to mount.

Beyond that my Disco is pretty basic

2 inch Terrafirma lift springs
OME Nitro Charger shocks
Arb Awning
Step/sliders - my wife is short
VHF radio Kenwood 710 dual band
I have an 04 so CDL included

Interior is pretty much stock remove the rear jump seat and 60% rear seat

I will likley do a build thread as the interior is changing a bit with the addition of the RTT.

I travel with a Land Rover group out of Vancouver a lot we average 10 trucks - Disco's, LR3's, Defenders, Series and a Cab orward once and while

Last summer doing a 4 day run - that is mine with the hood up - checking everything is still happy. Old Army habit, stop for more than 10 minutes pop the hood particularly after along bumpy drive in low range.

I dont have a group anywhere close to me but there is a Land Rover club over in Arizona that I plan to overland with later in the year. They have about 30 members and very active. They have an online site at AZLRO.com. You may enjoy this video.

Today I finished installing the roof racks, yes I said racks I put on the first roof rack decided it was just a little to small for what I want so I converted a hitch cargo rack that I decided I really didn’t care for into a second roof rack put my recovery boards up on that rack strapped them down told the wife I was taking a test drive around the block, you know to check for rattles. Twenty minutes later I found myself sitting high atop a peak at the local OHV Park/camping area/ RC airport/ mtn bike trail/shooting range I have no recollection of driving out there nor do I remember making the right hand turn onto the dirt I must have been kidnapped or something. That’s my story and I am sticking to it
