Ah, gotcha... I had a S10 Blazer and it was IFS with torsion bar suspension, a lot of guys convert them over to solid front axles.
It is a bit off a weak point the cast iron diff is alittle more durable from what I've heard but with anything oem from hummer harder to find

Special thanks to Rob for his assistance getting the tent up there. And thanks to Adam for the purchasing assistance. It was a learning curve trying to get it setup as it will be in the field, IE no use of an separate ladder. Its a great size on the inside, setup is not to bad but the height of the rig really makes it a bit of a pain doing some of the spring rods for the windows, but its doable on the rig. It attracted a lot of attention from the neighbors that is for sure.

I have to work this weekend but I hope to get up one of the canyons next weekend and check it out and learn a bit more about setup and tear down prior to the family joining me for an outing.

Ill have to update more as the usage increases, I would sleep in it tonight but I work at 4AM and would rather not learn teardown in the dark this early on.

Just incase anyone is wondering, the Gobi Hilift mount as well as shovel /axe will still fit even with the RTT mounted! This is key in my rig as the new Maxterra rear bumper has jerry can mounts but not a hi lift so I needed a place to still mount this.

Yeah, unfortunately it's not going to be cheap. Looking at doing similar to what a friend of mine did with her's. Did a custom drop basket and changed the diff to a Dana 44 center section. Currently even though I have the cast iron stronger diff for the H3s it's a small 7.5 so even with 4.10 gears the teeth are fairly small and the best I can do is 4.56 gears. That is what is standard on most H3s but I have the Alpha which is V8 and comes with 4.10s instead. Doing the custom 44 would be must stronger let alone gives me better gearing options if I want to bump up to a 37" or even 38" tire like she did.

Are those a solid front axle or IFS? Just curious since I don't know much about Hummers..
As cash9300 stated they are IFS and are torsion bar suspension like your S10 Blazer. I know a few people who have done solid axle swaps on them and I have considered it. I would prefer to build up the IFS though. I love being on the trail and told I can't do something with my IFS rig then watch their jaws drop and I do it.

With the 351W and a NP 205 all gear Tcase it should be pretty stout

Just because I am curious, what were ya doing when it broke?
It really shouldn't have gone when it did. I thought it was a half shaft when it went but appears to be the diff. I took a bad line getting ready to climb up on an obstacle. Should have realigned to come more straight on, was an an angle with the driver tire climbing first while turned driver. Really shouldn't have blown in that situation but I am wondering if I maybe weakened it on a week long wheeling trip last month. The first time I blew it was due to a half shaft. Blew the shaft but had to continue down the trail about 2 miles before we came to a location where we could change it.

Should be a nice setup for ruckus.

Our daughter in Seattle has been ham mocking with friends, so we gave her one of her own for her birthday. It was only a high of 40° here today, but we had to hang it out back and give it a try. Wow, was that comfy! I liked it enough that I just ordered one for me. This color

The rear bumper build took longer than I anticipated, mostly due to having to phone in some help with a buddy that has a vintage Bridgeport millpress and the skill to use it. Those spindles needed holes that I couldn't do with my scrappy supply of hand tools. Also dry rot apparently decided that I didn't need the oxygen hose on my cutting torch, which ruptured while cutting out plate (which ripped the lit torch out of my hand, and luckily didn't catch anything on fire).

The rack holds 2 round reliant 5-gallon water jugs or two jerry cans with a little extra room. The ammo can will hold the Viair compressor sitting on my work table. I originally had a spot under the hood to mount it but after it came in the mail I realized that it just wouldn't slide home no matter how fancy of a dinner I bought it.

The bumper isn't 100% done yet, I'm still playing with the idea of adding some pieces to cover the body gaps on the sides, I'm going to paint it with the same roll on bedliner I put on the lower quarters and I still have to mount the beer opener. Regardless it is functional, which takes the higher priority on my to-do list leading up to the trip in June.

installed air pressure sensors for the tires now I know im low on air before I trash my tires on the trail..

This. Explains why most of us have an air compressor in their rig to air up after deflating for the trail. I run 42 on the street and 20 on the trail on my 285/75-16 Duratracs. Using the ARB CKMTA12 air compressor I can air up the tires faster than the Staun deflators can take the air out.
