I'm learning things the hard way with my first rig. The previous owner did a budget lift on it. Just enough to fit 33" on it. And with a lot of trial by error I am working the suspension out. I think I could have paid for a well thought out kit with the money I have poured into mine. But I also would not understand the the way it works and diagnose problems when they arise out on the trails.

I asked because even though lifting a suspension with coils all the way around is tricky. I think done right it's better than leaf packs in back.

You can go a lot of places with it stock and save for a good kit, but where is the fun in that? My wife gets on me with how much of my money I pour into my rig. She tried to get me to account for it all, thinking it might make me come to my senses. Right that ain't happening.

That's pretty nice! One question, I don't recall but doesn't that have coil springs front and back? I have seen some pretty nice grands in my day. But most of them have v-8s and are very radically built. I'm partial to my 4.0 too. Some day I'll put a new engine in my Xj. A refresh would be great!
There is a bunch of things you can do to your six cylinder with simple after market pieces to give you more power than you will ever need. An engine swap is not as easy as it sounds because of the variables. 400 hp out of your six cyl engine is obtainable without a lot of cost if you talk to the right people like Clifford research who build most of the good stuff for six cyl. engines.

The other person to talk to is Russ Pottenger of Bishop-Buehl Engines. The 4.0s are his thing. OTOH, he is pretty booked with work.

Well roof racks are on traction boards are mounted and locked fuel can, water can, on the way. Got the mounts for the two way radios mounted the iPad mount is secure phone mount installed. New tent arrives tomorrow, sleeping bags, cots, sleeping pads, arrived Friday. A friend of mine is fabricating some rock sliders for me new bumpers after the sliders. Tomorrow I will post pics for everyone. Things are moving along rather quickly. I am buying all new equipment because several years ago I lost all of mine in a fire that burned the garage to the ground. So it’s all new this year.

Rick, the gc has decent under belly clearance Stock, add a small spacer lift and go from there. If you need more weight capacity for the rear, pop in a set of airlift 1000s. I ran this setup for over 200k on my 2011 jk unlimited. We went everywhere and had a blast doing it.
