just because you arent able to get away for a few days does not mean that you cant experience the joys of overlanding...
if you live anywhere in the united states, chances are there is a walmart within 15 minutes of your location.
so, without any further ado...throw on a tank top and grab your best pair of flipflops and let the adventure begin!

I'm near a national forest with tons of campgrounds.

Apparently it's customary for many campers to arrive a night early and camp at Walmart, sign in at their campground of choice in the morning. Refill coolers, etc.

Most campgrounds have online sign-ups now, to mitigate the need for this. But who wants to pay for a full day, and only get 1/4 of a night? Especially if some retard is blocking your rented site when you arrive at night.

I'm conflicted. Sometimes it's cool tailgating, sometimes it's an embarrassing mess of squat-ed trucks and rv's.

And if there's a offroad motorcycle event "Wailing Wayne national forest", it's a mess. And that park's 3+ hours away still.

that's why wally-world also sells this....

(a little tip about wine in a box: there is a plastic bag in the box with a spout on the bottom. turn the box upside down and open the spout and blow really hard into it inflating the bag inside. shut the spout and turn back to the upright position. place your lips around the spout and open the spout and you will get a "shotgun" of wine)
you can thank me later...

Ah, the classic Walmart State Park adventure—truly a testament to the spirit of overlanding in the most unexpected places! Embracing the local landscape, from the thrills of water crossings to the hustle of first-come, first-serve campsites, showcases the essence of exploration without venturing far from home. Navigating behind those slow drivers and dodging wildlife stampedes only adds to the journey's charm, while the occasional trail mishap reminds us of the unpredictable nature of the wild. Finding that serene fishing spot amidst the hustle is a reward for those who seek it, proving that with a bit of creativity and the right mindset, anyone can experience the joys of overlanding right in their backyard. Awesome rig you got there. Congrats on overlanding on a budget. Just have to add a few more items on your rig and you can begin Target Overlanding. Can't wait to see the progress.
