anyway, besides my own me-problems, what should we bring for the trip?! Beer preferences guys??
I am also going to be making my "Famous" Dutch Oven Chicken and White Bean Chili. I usually make a lot so you are welcome to it if you like. Bring your meals, water, snacks, water, your favorite suds.. did I mention water. Goes without saying all the basics "Overland Bound Boot Camp" even if it is an overnighter please be prepared.

BTW if you plan to get there before 7/3 or stay longer than 7/4 please post it as well just in case others want to participate those days.
@jroettele wants to head out on 7/1 and return 7/2 in case that works for anyone.

Ok I wasn't sure if we were doing a group BBQ type of thing, or a BYOF hahaha. I'm good either way, obviously no problem providing for myself or the group! Whatever's easiest for everyone! We'll have food, PLENTY of water for ourselves and anyone else in need, and good brews. Also I'll bring fire wood, tho I'm unsure if we'll actually be able to have a campfire due to the Beaumont fire....

Speaking of, might be a good thing to check ahead for any closures due to the Beaumont fire. I'm not sure if it was traveling toward the San Jacinto Mountains (where we'll be) or not. Hope not! Havent really checked up on it recently...

Hey @PS144ONE, got your note. Thanks for the invite! I am going to run this by the boss. As of now, I don't see a reason we can't go other than she might want to spend the 4th with Family. I am off work the 4 days, so I may join someone going 1,2 if my wife wants to spend the day with Fam on the 4th.

Appreciate you reaching out, you said you were new in your message but you're taking like a duck to water. Love it!

I was wondering if you think a lifted 2wd with a locker could make the drive on some of these trails?

When dry I am rarely ever in 4wd on the normal roads and trails in the area. The only exceptions I can think of are Indian Ridge Trail, 4S06B due to washouts, and side routes on Old Idyllwild road out of Banning.

I would keep the speeds down on San Jacinto Truck trail as it is well traveled on weekends and some of the corners are fairly blind.

OK I cleaned up the directions and added all the GPS coordinates. There is also a map and a link to the PDF I created from Bing Maps. Based on the time It will take to get from the trail head to the River Crossing (E) about 2 hours I'm planning on starting at 10am. That will put us at the River crossing at around noon to stop and eat lunch. I figure we will be there about an hour. One we take off from there with a few stops along the way that should get us to camp around 5:30 or 6pm. Perfect time I think to set up camp and get dinner started. I'm also going to put this up as a rally point now that I have it all mapped out. Thanks once again to @Kenslittle72 for all the great info!

From Highway 74 in Hemet
A. Turn on Old Control Road. 33.721748, -116.800835
B. Keep left at Red Hill Road. 33.738396, -116.759995 (it probably won't look like a turn)
C. Keep to the left at McGovern. 33.762760, -116.744280
a. This is where San Jacinto Truck Trail begins.
b. McGovern will turn into Pine Cove rd. At the corner of Pine Cove rd and H243 is a small market and gas station.
D. Continue on San Jacinto Truck Trail to Stone Creek. 33.771479, -116.768388
a. Camp Ground 1. Crossing Stone Creek on the right
b. Camp Ground 2. Down the road on the left. (Was an old cabin site)
E. From the camp sites is the North Fork San Jacinto River crossing. 33.775589, -116.776508
a. This is a nice place to stop and hang out a bit.
F. Continue on San Jacinto Truck Trail till it ends. 33.771090, -116.850220
G. Right turn on Indian Creek Truck Trail 33.771090, -116.850220
H. Turn Right on Mellow Ranch Rd NF-4S05 33.826990, -116.802870
I. Make a right once you hit the highway. 33.825970, -116.795110
a. You will go by Lake Fulmor. 33.804176, -116.781925 Parking is on the right. It is a small lake that is very scenic. If you are making good time it wouldn't hurt to stop and walk around it.
J. You will make a left on Black Mountain Rd / truck trail. 33.796650, -116.757460
a. There is a large turnout at the base of the trail.
K. Follow it up to the top. 33.8374466,-116.7446696
a. You will pass a few yellow post spots if you can't get the spot at the top.
b. Your campsite will be on the edge of the mountain with views all the way down to the valley floor.
c. There is a cool overlook just past that spot on the left. There will be a large pile of rocks with a turn out. If you climb up through the rocks there will be a rock with a railing around it. great view.

How far up are you going to go?

Are you going to move each day or pick a site and stay?

If we go we would have to leave mid morning on the first as wife as a late night bridal shower to go to on Friday.

Thanks for the up date on the roads also!
