Hey OB, finally doing the trans America trail. Leaving aug 1st.
Running west to east starting in the Bay Area, Ca.
95 4Runner 3.4 on 33’s. Dual locked
Planning on using Sam’s trail as a guide, taking time to explore any side routes along the way.
Any recommendations along the way are greatly appreciated, or even better show me a trail or two

You're probably aware that there's no shortage of amazing 4x4 roads in the western states. I can certainly help you with Colorado, if desired.

Be prepared to get bored out of your mind crossing the Midwestern states.

Do you otherwise have reason to go to the East Coast or is it just for the tat?

lol yea that’s what I’m worried about. Checking the map doesn’t look like a lot of trails out that way. Going to the east coast for the tat, also never driven across country so it’s also a bucket list

I’d appreciate any Colorado suggestions. I’ll b spending a couple weeks in and around the San Juan mountains

I would suggest the I-80 over the I-70, to get through the middle as fast as possible and yet maybe still see a million geese, if they've stuck around that long. But maybe not. Either way, I-80 with no geese is better than I-70. :grinning:

Not what you were looking for, but I'm curious to hear CO recommendations too, especially the San Juans. It's a nice area but I've seen little of it.
