Don’t like to hear about that at all. We are loosing so much habitat for our native birds to invasive creatures, would love to help. I not sure exactly when I can plan a trip down to TX from California but, will work on it. Might need a little help from you?
Just let me know what you need.

unfortunately the douchbaggery is driving me in the other direction. Id love to share the adventure but not if it means i have to conform to what others idea of a offroad rig is. I could buy 2 jeeps for what my truck cost but im not going to just to be a cool guy. It bothers me that there are so called ambassadors who work for this site pushing the idea.
Don't conform, just prove your point on the trail. You will get their respect when you pull them off the rocks or out of the fish pond.

You never have to conform, just be yourself and enjoy life ect. . When they come in need offer your help and your case is made without a word spoken! Enjoy my friend!

In central texas there is more habitat lost to greedy ranchers and farmers who rip off hunters with their exorbitant high fees to hunt their property. West Texas still has friendly ranchers and farmers but state owned land is still plentiful for free hunting. I love to hint along the Rio Grande river for dove snd quail.

Those rancher that charge way too much are the same ones that wont allow offroaders on their expansive property.

Well you half right anyway. I live in NM where there are more liberals than I can stomach. It was an excellent state until many west coast liberals moved in to escape the high taxes that they created in the west coast states. (IMO) Our taxes were decent and bearable, at least they were. (IMO) I don't have one senator or one congressman that isn't a Liberal or socialist. No one represents me and the 45% of the conservative people in this state in Washington. Over the past 20 years they have ruined the states hunting laws and trying to destroy our gun laws.(IMO) Colorado is even worse now if that is possible. (IMO) With a state that has a roughly 70+ % Hispanic population and a huge Indian population, conservatism is a dead issue. (IMO)To make things worse Republicans are far outnumbered in the state houses and a Washington state transplanted female Governor is now in office.
(IMO) = In my opinion is for clarification !

Texas aint much different except we got a lame republican governor and hes a cripple. Wont even give us constitutional carry in texas of all places. We used to be the bastion of gun freedom now not so much. I used to be able to have a rifle rack in my rear window you know good ole boy, now i am forced to keep it hidden under my rear seat locked up or risk a felony stop by police or have it stolen by a gangbanger from honduras. Dfw, austin, houston,el paso, pretty much all major cities here are blue areas and wouldnt you know it those populated or polluted however you look at it areas conrtol the votes.

Look I understand, I live in La La land out here in California. Beautiful lands but idiots in our state government! All we can do is continue to befriend people and have intelligent conversations about life and our daily lives! If the idiots continue down the path they are on, hopefully people will wake up! IN THE MEAN TIME, let’s get out and enjoy each other’s company and Rigs! Life is for Living, Laughing and Loving, not for Working, Worrying and Whining!

Your one smart fella. Are you able to keep them pinned. They are smart and they are tough. Friend of mine in Albany said she wont kill them but her husband traps them. Some weighing 400+ pounds. I don't know what he does with them after they are trapped.
Some one in the state political ring is missing out on a huge supply of food for the need. Someone told me that hunting for wild hogs requires no license and are allowed to be hunted with helicopters. What say you on that ? Kinda takes the sport out of the hunt I'd say..

You are right. Texas gun laws stink and have since the 70's. I remember going hunting and always carried a side arm for snakes or other varmints. I would walk into a convenience store with my side arm on and buy my ammunition in the store while my brother grabbed a six pack of Coors. Do that now and a cop will shoot your ass ! I can still do that in NM but it wont be long before the liberals will stop that now that they control everything. Recently the liberals passed an unconstitutional gun law. It was so bad that 80% of the sheriffs in this state refused to enforce the law. I'm from El Paso and I left for the same reasons I may leave here. My candidate in both states has never won an election in my entire life as a voter, I'm 84 years old.

i catch the babies when i can just because they are easier to manage, then yes i pen em up with goat fence that is attached to a solar electric fence so they dont try and route under. Other folks i know put the pen on concrete slabs. After they get to around 200 lb i put a 9mm to the head skin and put em in freezer then we have alot of really tasty pulled pork for a while.

About hunting them, the only time you dont need a license is if they are on your property anywhere else and you need one. On heli hunting its not enough we have millions of them(no exaggeration) and they breed like rabbits, the means and methods to hunt them are any method possible meaning if you have a explosives licence you can hunt them with that if you want. Some folks eat the meat like me, some leave em dead where they fell for the vultures and some donate the meat to food banks and churches.

What a shame I cant come get me one. I'm glad you can harvest them though. Your saving at least $1000 + a year on meat.

Very nice!
I personally don't have the means to keep them to fatten them up, but when I go hog hunting I always look for the piglets and younger sows. I've made the mistake of trying to smoke an adult boar; dry as toast and tough as nails. Even though we are absolutely overrun with wild pigs in OK I've pretty much ran them off of my property. Which is problematic because most land owners still want to charge an arm and a leg to let you thin the herd. The wma's from se Oklahoma to Canton all have decent populations for anyone looking.

To cook em i put cuts of them in the oven wrapped in foil on 275f for about 12 hours, it falls of the bone and melts in your mouth. Its not just boars sows can be tough also if they are too big no matter how you cook em. Boars can be a little gamey tasting not too bad though. I raised goats for a while i ate one and it tasted so bad i still cant eat deer meat because of that slight gamey taste reminds me of the goat meat, cant eat goat cheese either it was an awful experience.

I marinate my deer meat in Italian salad dressing for 24 hours in the frig and there isn't any game taste. There are techniques to cooking all type of meats, I'm like you but with fish, I just don't like any fishy smell or taste. My brother in law use to bring me bear meat. I heard it wasn't very good. It was awesome the way he cooked it and not stringy at all like I had been told. Wish I had that recipe now.

I haven't noticed any brand , model or platform bias on OB. Everyone seems welcoming and supportive. That's why I like this place. Learning from someone who modded a Roo or advising a new Jeep owner on what trails to cut their teeth on in Moab to showing off your truck bed camp system so others can copy it. That's what I get out of OB.
