I wasn't talking about your personal vehicle. I was talking to the OB crowd in general terms. Sorry if you thought I was speaking about you personally. Your one of the we's out there like me. I thought I was pretty much agreeing with what you said, I guess you got your point over better than I got mine. Sorry about that.
We are more on the same side than not. I need to open my thought process.

Your cool. Just saw a post that said his rig was worth 48K. I'm going to brag too. I have a $350 - 1967 International 2 wheel drive 410 posi. 3/4 ton P.U. I've owned for nearly 30 years, it has 375K miles (I'm third owner) on the speedo and has gone places most modern 4x4's have feared to tread. I put a rebuilt short block in at 325K but that's all except normal repairs and maintenance. When I die I told my family to bury me in that truck so I'll have transportation in my next life.

Considering a pick-up and a four wheel camper. I see a lot of Tacoma’s and Tundra’s but rarely see domestic pick-ups. Curious as to why this is the case. Are domestic pick-ups not off-road/overland capable? Less after market parts/upgrades?

Thanks
Love my full size rig. I get that Jeeps, Toyota’s and Land Rovers are the gold standard of off-roading but, bring on the full size rigs!

Im starting to see just by some of the comments on this site we should start our own overland group for domestic rigs i havent met a jeep or toyota that can go anywhere i cant even when i was stock. Its become a bit unwelcoming for a group i payed to be in. I was just told in another post if i want someone to wheel with i should trade my truck for toyota or jeep in or join another club, by an overland bound amassador nontheless. Very disheartening

A few do got make the entire club bad! There are many in this club that believe what Michael and Corrie say about, “ It doesn’t matter what you drive “ is correct and embrace all vehicles. Having said that, you know as well as I that like vehicle owners will tend to huddle up to discuss there in common vehicles. What I would say is seek out some of the other full size rig owners and show the others through friendship just how well our vehicles preform! I’m not a rock climber, nor am I a mud dipper but I can go just about everywhere else, enjoy your rig.

unfortunately the douchbaggery is driving me in the other direction. Id love to share the adventure but not if it means i have to conform to what others idea of a offroad rig is. I could buy 2 jeeps for what my truck cost but im not going to just to be a cool guy. It bothers me that there are so called ambassadors who work for this site pushing the idea.

I may be biased but the Colorado and specifically the Bison is probably the most capable off-road mid-size truck, and it's great on-road and around town too. I'm sure the Jeep Gladiator Rubicon can beat it in some cases, but as it's not available yet with a diesel it's not competing head to head just yet. The Tacomas have been on the market forever and have proven their reliability, which is why they are so popular, but out of the box they are good off-road, but not the best.

The aftermarket for the Colorado has grown expeditionary since the 2nd generation release and even more in recent years with the release of the ZR2.

We should get together and wheel sometime ive got the bison before it was a thing. The wife and i will be down that way sometime this summer or fall. Maybe padre island or bolivar peninsula ride.20190420_150200.jpg

I’m not sure if your rig is big enough, just kidding! You have a beautiful ride! Right now I’m trying to figure out travel for next year ect. I would love to hook up but have to see what I can manage! My goal over the next number of years is to see more of this country and meet all the great people. Hang tight and enjoy life!

Just a bird hunter, Quail would be my goal but, love dove hunting also’
Most of quail hunting i know of are canned hunts on high fence ranches just like pheasant which are pretty much extinct in the wild here. Hogs destroy alot of ground nesting birds here along with deer fawns and about anything else they can get ahold of.

Don’t like to hear about that at all. We are loosing so much habitat for our native birds to invasive creatures, would love to help. I not sure exactly when I can plan a trip down to TX from California but, will work on it. Might need a little help from you?

Yes, much bias here on truck makes. Many good folks here though and you will find them more often than the jerks. Don't judge everyone by one bad apple. I've found some who don't seem to understand the conversation and jump to conclusions without a fair trial. Kinda like some politicians in congress. You cant fix stupid..

As I poorly stated before, we all enjoy getting out, fishing, hunting, hiking, relaxing, sight seeing, just enjoy it and each other and learn from each other’s successes on the road! All those successes can be converted into each of our rids! SUCCESS - LIFE IS GOOD!
