I do the same, but the notifications often don't appear. I suspect some of the emails get caught in Gmail's spam filter. But even the notifications under the bell don't appear for many threads I've subscribed to multiple times. I should report it as I've seen that others have as well, but I've complained about a lot of bugs and felt I should give it a rest.
I use forum notifications (to avoid email spam) and yes it's true that sometimes I miss some notifications.

Other ideas:
  • private group on Facebook
  • group chat on WhatsApp or similar

I agree with either one of these. Either a private group/message with people that are active or some kind of chat app. That would be the easiest. A lot of stuff gets lost in the forums.

Although I’m a millennial I’m completely out of touch with apps. What app would be the preferred method?

My personal favourite is Telegram. What I like:
  • available for every platform (iOS, Android, Mac, PC, etc)
  • free to use and open source
  • ability to share video, photos, location, any other file
  • we can have a group where we discuss and coordinate
  • and also we can have a channel, where only admins can broadcast messages to everyone, like "tomorrow we meet at 9 am at this location"
Happy to set up and invite everyone if you guys are keen to give it a try.

I’m willing to try whatever makes sense. It’s a pain going through every past thread and trying to pull out the names of members that need invites. OB is good at deleting past Rally Points as well, so no copy and paste.
@carlo_donz - can you set up a basic group for us to beta test?

They haven't deleted the rally point from 2 years ago when we camped by Canon City. I think if you friended the group you would have an instant list to go off of and you could start a alert with a conversation where you can add a link to what ever you're planning.?? Most of us are on the site almost daily.

I forgot to add polls as a feature as well, useful to decide tentative dates and/or trail. Sure I can set up it.

@everyone: who wants to give this a try, please download the Telegram app on your favourite platform, create a Telegram account and message me at @carlodonzelli (tapping on this link will automatically open a telegram chat with me) so that I can add you to the OB group.

Thank you.

If you use the search radius invite feature you might be able to get everyone in one go.

One problem I have is that as new people visit the forum they are going to miss all the discussion that's going on in the other app. Also, if it's anything like other messaging programs, the large amount of traffic during a big discussion will become a nuisance to some and they'll end up muting or deleting the app. Also, notice the newbies that have showed up in the Colorado thread recently as discussion has picked up there.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not against trying something that could help, I just fear we may only make the situation worse.

I would say, let’s give it a go. We will still use the forum to onboard new people etc but we can use the chat as a secondary channel for quick comms and coordination.

Many, including you, have express frustration while using the forum so let’s try something different.

Thanks for suggesting this - it was only by chance that I saw this thread continuing. Connected as suggested.

I honestly am not a big fan of the new app app far. I find it hard to read, and not intuitive to use.

I can't fault it for either of those reasons, but it simply has too many bugs to rely on it at this time.

All right guys, I am trying to set up a Rally Point for this weekend but the platform is not working, I keep getting the same error while submitting it.
I missed the last run so I'm proposing to do the same trail you guys did last time, but I'm open to alternatives

Here are the details:

If you think you are coming, please leave a comment below so that I can keep track of it.
