F33DOM Maybe you can suggest something for next month. But you were missed and I think as long as you stayed off the spurs and just did the main loop you would have been fine. Till Net time, David

Buy the way I am hoping to make a trip down to the San Juans about the second week of June. I would like run some of those trails while all the water run off is cascading down from the mountains. I hear that it is quite the experience. I also want to do some of the easy trails that my wife might be Kosher with if we can make it back out in late July. Other than the June Jam it is my basic plan this season.

I'm sure it would have been fine for me. I had some business issues come up and found I needed to work the whole weekend otherwise I would have attended.

I don't really have much for suggestions tho as I just don't know the area that well and I'm so new to offroading. Cant wait for summertime adventures!

We really didn't get to touch on things for next month, kind of got to caught up in navigating the trail, but I would love to do a camping weekend for the next meet-up, one thing I found out the hard way when my wife and I did the Rim Rocker trail with some one from my 4x4 club a couple years ago. He was pretty cool about it but both of them had very little with them and just slept in thier rigs. Tossed the few things they had moved out of their rigs and was ready to go. While my wife and I had pitch a tent with air mattress which took us quite a bit of time to put back together, (in all fairness we were going out to Moab to camp at the KOA and tour the Arches national park and some of Canyonlands and only tagged along because I really wanted to check out that trail. so we had all kinds of gear with us).

Having a set-up that was conducive to setting up and more important breaking down so you can be ready when by the time the group would be ready to move out. It really doesn't matter what kind of set-up you have it's kind of good to know how much time you need to allow to get ready for let's say a 10 am departure time. But you have a chance to weed out stuff you don't need and maybe some things you do need. Plus there is no better way to get to know the people you want to travel with.

My wife and I attended the overnight camp out a couple of years ago that one of the youngsters from the Colorado Springs area put together a couple years ago. The place we camped at was just east of Canyon City. In a area popular for mountain biking, along the gold belt loop. Was reallly a great location considering its warmer down south and there would be very little snow to contend with next month. After the overnight we headed up the part of the road that the couple and daughter ran (enchanted rocky mountain trail). There is also Bishops Castle to check out while we're down that way.

Anyway just a suggestion. Thanks David

Just an idea to throw out as well--given it will likely still be "wintery" on the next ride date, do we still want to have a dedicated "recovery" basic training day instead of or integrated with the next trail ride? I know we've talked about this before, not sure if there is still interest...

Wow, it looks a very fun day guys!

Should we start deciding a target date/location for the next run?

@JCarter do you have already a tentative plan for your trip?
@carlo_donz Yes, 21-29 heading west! :grinning:

I believe it could be said that everyone on this trip got hands-on experience for how to do a recovery. I think every vehicle got stuck at one point along the trail.:laughing:

I like this idea. It had been quite a while since the last time I had to do vehicle recovery. While I probably wouldn't have chosen to do the run this weekend had I known there was that much snow, it was a great opportunity to get some practice as well as learn from watching it done. I think a chance to discuss/demonstrate/practice some place with trail-like terrain would be useful.

Well darn--now I'm really upset I didn't go! Unfortunately getting the business back on track took precedent--gotta be able to keep buying toys and making payments on the Gladiator ;)

I would say we can have both? For the people having a which, I would like to see it in action

Hey guys, off topic, but I’m considering selling my hi-lift jack for $60 and my hi-lift wheel attachment for $20. Anyone interested? Hi-lift is lightly used with some rust from the elements. Wheel attachment is brand new

Ladies and Gents, I think we're losing comms with some people because we tend to reply to each other in a given singular Rally Point forum. I recommend that all coordination in the future occurs on the Rocky Mountain Colorado link below:

OB Colorado

This way we can ensure that everyone is getting eyes-on on future trips and make sure that no one is getting left out of the loop. I'm still having issues creating a Crew, but will reach out to admins in the near future to figure it out.

I'm going to reply to the forum above and start coordination of the next event this month. My plan is to be at the next event, and I'm getting antsy hoping that we can finally get some real overlanding in!

Good plan. The site still has some problems with notifications. I missed a lot of the discussion for last month because of the lack of notifications.

Last time I checked, the Crew feature wasn't ready for prime-time. I got them to give me permissions and I started playing around with it. I cooled off on the idea, but I'm not positive I remember why. I think it was again because of notifications. Right now, the only reliable ones I receive are via Tapatalk and it had no visibility to the Crew function. Hopefully it's been improved by now.

The way I resolve notifications is watching a specified thread, choosing between receiving email or just notifications on the forum.

Not the smartest way but works pretty good

I do the same, but the notifications often don't appear. I suspect some of the emails get caught in Gmail's spam filter. But even the notifications under the bell don't appear for many threads I've subscribed to multiple times. I should report it as I've seen that others have as well, but I've complained about a lot of bugs and felt I should give it a rest.
