US West My Annual September Mojave Road trip

Hi Robert. - Starlink has been awesome. I don't use it for long periods of time when off roading as I like to be disconnected - but leaving it on at the campsite with wifi security cameras is good for perimeter security especially if I am away from the campsite and still have a cell signal to get alerts. It is more for SHTF scenarios plus all the food, brass, propane, solar panels and generators and water.

Right on David, your sig says Golden Valley, didn't think about Summerlin! LOL! Ok, thanks.......I'll add you to the list. Can you make cell calls through Starlink? I read that they were testing that a few years ago and apparently you can. I may need to call Starlink directly and ask them. And never thought of the security camera thing. Won't be away from our trucks long on this trip.....as it's an Expedition.......so a lot of it will be driving through some awesome scenery.

Hopefully, we don't get too much rain in the park in the next 3 weeks!! Haven't been able to cross Soda Lake for a couple of years now, due to it being basically closed because of all of the rain!!! It makes the first part of it impassable when wet!! But, the bypass if needed again, is actually pretty quick and saves an extra hour or so!!

I'm taking Ryan out, as he is only 50/50 right now. If he gets his shlt together, I'll add him back in. But, I don't mind the smaller group at all, as it just makes things easier for me!!! I'm dealing with getting old as dirt health issues right now, already told my cardiologist that I'll be gone for a week.....then coming back for a Rock concert (Smashing Pumpkins) the following weekend!! And the Endodontist today!! ..........hopefully he re-fixed things properly so I don't have this overwhelming pain I have now!

Right on! Cleo (my GSD) is getting a hair cut and bath tomorrow.......she always looks a little funny for a couple of months, then all of that hair just grows back!!! And she's dealing with a left side head lean right now. Drugs and ear wash, which hasn't really done much. Need to take her back to the vet next week and see what else it could be.

So, paying the Weather Gods off for good weather this weekend.........here's the extended forecast for this weekend. Granted, this is for Mid Hills Campground, but Friday and Saturday, we'll basically be in this general area.........so you may want to pack a jacket!!! It sure beats the hell out of the 115-120+ that we've been dealing with this summer!!!

Friday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11am and 5pm. Sunny, with a high near 69.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 53.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 77.

Saturday Night: Clear, with a low around 58.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 81.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 60.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 82.

Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 62.

Here's what Rick over in Mohave Valley sent me:

"I am having some medical issues (Kidney Stones) and may not make the run of Friday. I haven't made my final decision. Will see how I am tomorrow. In any case, I will in any case run over to Smith's to meet the group.

I know you have said you usually do a couple Mohave Road runs a year. If I don't make this one I would appreciate it if you keep me in line for your next run should I not make this one.

One of my sceptre cans is still full from My Easter Mojave trip, but I’m bringing three others empty, and while gas isn’t as bad as it was 6 months ago……..it’s still always been less in Fort Mohave!
Just had another root canal just now, and my mouth is still swollen!!
Have to hit a couple more stores then back home to get some more packing done before I have to run to work and finish up a car deal. Working on very little sleep, and tomorrow won’t be any different…….going to load up my front seat fridge/freezer with a few extra energy drinks!!!
