Hello - I'm Dave - I have an '07 Honda Pilot (4x4) that's been a decent all around rig for us , but I am interested in improving its ground clearance . We've camped for many years , but we're finding we have to go to more remote spots to avoid the crowds , which means worse roads - so I'm looking for advice on a lift kit and skid plates to avoid undercarriage damage. Anyone have experience or advice in this area ? Thanx !
Welcome to the OB community Dave!!!

Hi There, My Name is Erik. I live on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Level of Overlander... I'd say moderate. I have exciting goals, now i need to gain the experience to realize them.
Current vehicle is a 2017 Tacoma TRD OR. Currently building the truck up to work for my family of 4. I will be installing some goodies on the truck shortly, so will upload a photo after that. :)

Hello everyone! Wanted to post something to say hi and give a quick intro. I'm here to connect with other overlanding and adventure travel enthusiasts.
Looking to purchase a Gen 3 Mitsubishi Montero to build an overlanding rig. Anyone here using the Montero/Pajero platform? What are your thoughts looking back at your build?

Hi Dwayne,

Welcome to Overland Bound!

I think Pajeros are a good basis for an overlandig rig. There are some members around here with Pajeros.

New Members,

Welcome to the Overland Bound community! Please take a few moments to introduce yourself so we can get to know you!

A few things you might want to include in your introduction are:

1) Picture! If you have a rig, we want to see it!
2) Location (General area is fine)
3) Rig (Year, Make, Model, etc.)
4) Overlanding Experience Background (Novice or Experienced, you're welcome here!)

We're glad you've found us and look forward to sharing our adventures with you!

In addition to getting to know you, here are the guideline sent to all Moderators of the forums. It's a natural reflection of our community, and what Overland Bound is all about:

From @administrator
  • Overlanding is: "Vehicle Dependent Travel". Nothing else.
  • We will not further define "overlanding".
  • "Capable" depends on the requirements of the trip, and we take that very seriously.
  • You are an Overlander: Overlanding is for everyone who has exploration and adventure in their heart, or, who need to be reinvigorated by connecting with nature. Nature is unforgiving. You must rise to a certain level of personal awareness to survive. Sound right? Overlanding is for you.
  • Encourage uncomplicated ventures into the great outdoors. Don't over pack.
  • Be prepared, and understand basic requirements. Question folks, to be sure they are aware of what is required. Don't assume.
  • Share without reservation, trip locations, and information.
  • It doesn't matter what you drive: The only requirement of an Overlander is that the vehicle serves the job required, safely.
  • We do not care about make or model.
  • We do not engage in "this is better than that" competitions.
  • We DO give advice about how to make your vehicle ready for what you need. Share knowledge.
  • Humility.
  • We respect, fear, and protect nature.
  • "I don't know" is a great answer.
  • We don’t brag about exploits.
  • We seek answers from the community when we don’t know.
  • We engage in the very smallest of interactions.
Hello I’m the fng have enjoyed overlanding since the 80’s before we knew what to call it.

Hi My name is Richard my friends call me RB, I'm a retired construction worker and live on the Central Coast of Calif. with my wife Patty where we raised two children.
I have been into 4X4 all of my life and have had everything from Jeeps to 4x4 vans
1709997532267.pngHere's a picture of the last one I built on Tons with a full camper set up on the in side.

For last decade I have been more into Rocklanding running hardcore technical trails like the Rubicon and Fordyce Trails, But like everything outdoors and have been going to places like Ouray Colorado & Moab for the scenic beauty !

I enjoy the camaraderie of just sitting a round the campfire and talking about Rigs or the Trail as much as getting out there on the trail.
Looking forward to meeting some new people and being part of the community
