Glad I found Overland Bound. really excited to be here as well as learn and get to share and read up on some adventures.
I drive a 2nd Gen Taco and am currently working on adding to my baby. I stay in the Los Angeles area. although I grew up in the city I have always been very active outdoors. love going camping, fishing, snowboarding, rafting and hiking to name a few. it is my twin brother who motivated me to try an overlanding trip and now I'm hooked. I'm just starting out and any advice would help. thanks in advance!

Overlander for 10ish years Ive gone from the 2 seater tj to a 2018 yodarunner named "loafer". Joining the crew is like an incentive package for us to get out and explore. I have yet to convince the wife that the 1989 American Outbacker trailer is still worthy of the loafer tow behind status. the only Mod so far is my GPS system which is a Dual XGPS Receiver mated to an iPad dash mounted with Wiz magnetic clips.

When I lived in Ripon I started the meet up there but moved to Livermore about 6 Months ago. @RAWags now runs the Ripon meet up and I started another one out in Pleasanton. Good people at the Ripon meet up for sure.

Lex here, new to Overland scene but really excited to get out there & explore. My current rig in an Merc 2016 G wagon daily + Overland vehicle, currently getting her ready for future overland trips. I still have some old equipment that Im going to use when I used to go camping . But I know I’m going to need recovery gears too. All thanks to the Overland Bound YouTube videos . I backpack quite a bit and wanted to have a more comfortable setup and not so many hiking miles. My dogs name is Iggy . New to all of this and just getting started.

Welcome to Overland Bound. I had a similar motivation when I joined. Love backpacking, but knees started to hurt.
We can cover so much territory in our vehicles. Then pick our hikes.
I am envious of your location, great wine and wilderness.

Lots of difficult trails here and looking to do less epic hikes(3-7 days) and taking it a bit easier. It's either up or down !!

Indeed you are at the right place!
I am the Bay Area member rep and I can help connect you to meet ups that are happening near you. You have a couple options for local meet ups, one is in the north bay that just met last Sunday, there’s a Sac area meeting, and in Pleasanton CA there is a meet up on the second Sunday’s of the month and it has a great regular turn out and active. I run the The Tri-Valley (Pleasanton) group has number of plans already laid out for June through November. Our next meet up will be July 12th, in person!

This is great !! Thank you ! I will be traveling to Lone Pine area and hiking overnight for a Mt Whitney summit during the July meetup date. I will certainly join one of the other meetups when I return from Whitney and beyond !! Just purchased a membership...Overland here I come !!!

Hi! I'm Roy, and I got bit by the 4x4 bug thanks to my fiancee's 2008 Jeep Liberty.

Location: Baja, Mexico.
Overlanding Experience: keyboard warrior; I come from desert racing and I've engaged 4low twice and I was impressed with what this little slow turd could do.

I already installed the amazon 2" front 1.5" rear, spacer based lift, KYB Excel-G shocks (they are OK, meh), 2" wheel spacers and Yokohama MTs in 245/75/16.

I installed the lift & tires as a Christmas gift for the lady's vehicle, but I'm starting to pay more attention to it, I no longer see it as a mommy suv. That's why I'm here, to learn more about the overlanding stuff.
