Hello All,

I'm considered on a beginner level of overlanding, have made 1 day trips to easy trails, however We (me and wife) want to learn as much and fast as possible to be on the road and connect with nature.

I hope to transform my rig on a capable vehicle to visit the most amazing places!

Location: San Jose, CA
Rig: 2020 Jeep Wrangler JLU Sport
Experience: Novice (please forgive my Jeep tires lol)

wow, incredible picture
Thanks. I assume you are speaking of the Jeep pic. that was taken on the ledge drop on Black Bear pass in Ouray, Co. This was a bucket list trail for me, and that picture is duplicating the one I found everywhere online when researching that trail. The reason it was added to my bucket list. I have now completed the trail twice, and plan to do it again this fall.

24K Tacoma here! We live in Paso Robles CA and drive a 1999 ext cab long bed 4cyl gold tacoma with a Go Fast CamperIMG-9631.jpg

We enjoy going to places where not alot of traffic is and where we can escape reality. We have been off roading since we could drive (maybe even before) and enjoy laid back people who are up for an adventure. We do this mostly with our close friends and family.

Hope to see you out there,
Golden Goose

Hi, I'm Anthony. I'm an experienced camper but new to overlanding. My rig is a 2017 Outback. I've been slowly upgrading her for overlanding capabilities. Spent last week exploring northern Michigan trails and forest roads. Found some great camping locations that we will probably stay on some weekends this summer. Managed to hold my own against my friends wrangler.

Hi folks.
I'm Andy,
I live in the west Midlands UK.
I have a 1997 Land Rover Discovery 1 300tdi auto. I've spent the last 2years rebuilding and repairing her from a rusty shell.
I've built all of the modifications myself, including building my own roof top tent.
She's now almost ready to start clocking some proper miles and I'm looking forward to the next adventure.
Hello Andy, welcome to the OB community. Would love to see some pictures of your rig.
Welcome Andy......good having you onboard.

Hey Everybody!

My buddy has been telling me to join for a while now, and here I am! Super excited to learn from everyone and share some cool spots with the group!

I have a stock 2015 4Runner that I have been getting into some pretty incredible places for the last 5 years, finally ready to get her more trail capable :). My wife and I love overlanding have been doing it together for almost 7 years now, we also backpack and play in the snow whenever possible.

Cheers!

New Members,

Welcome to the Overland Bound community! Please take a few moments to introduce yourself so we can get to know you!

A few things you might want to include in your introduction are:

1) Picture! If you have a rig, we want to see it!
2) Location (General area is fine)
3) Rig (Year, Make, Model, etc.)
4) Overlanding Experience Background (Novice or Experienced, you're welcome here!)

We're glad you've found us and look forward to sharing our adventures with you!

In addition to getting to know you, here are the guideline sent to all Moderators of the forums. It's a natural reflection of our community, and what Overland Bound is all about:

From @administrator
  • Overlanding is: "Vehicle Dependent Travel". Nothing else.
  • We will not further define "overlanding".
  • "Capable" depends on the requirements of the trip, and we take that very seriously.
  • You are an Overlander: Overlanding is for everyone who has exploration and adventure in their heart, or, who need to be reinvigorated by connecting with nature. Nature is unforgiving. You must rise to a certain level of personal awareness to survive. Sound right? Overlanding is for you.
  • Encourage uncomplicated ventures into the great outdoors. Don't over pack.
  • Be prepared, and understand basic requirements. Question folks, to be sure they are aware of what is required. Don't assume.
  • Share without reservation, trip locations, and information.
  • It doesn't matter what you drive: The only requirement of an Overlander is that the vehicle serves the job required, safely.
  • We do not care about make or model.
  • We do not engage in "this is better than that" competitions.
  • We DO give advice about how to make your vehicle ready for what you need. Share knowledge.
  • Humility.
  • We respect, fear, and protect nature.
  • "I don't know" is a great answer.
  • We don’t brag about exploits.
  • We seek answers from the community when we don’t know.
  • We engage in the very smallest of interactions.
New member. Glad to be a part of the community. Have a 1995 80 series Cruiser under construction. I am doing the build with a great friend who is a wonderful mechanic “Automotive Excellence” Charleston South Carolina. Bought the 80 with 250k miles and an engine knock. The 80 was worn tired, but rust free. It’s getting a whole new refresh. .
I rank novice with regards to overlanding by all definitions. Eager to learn and hope to meet great folks on the trail. I’m a part timer because I have career and travel baseball team for my 14 yr old that takes all of my time. Can’t wait to meet folks all around. Great community to be a part of!
