Hi everyone! I'm a beginner overlander, experienced outdoorsman. I'm currently living in Burwell located in central Nebraska. My rig is a '99 P38 Range Rover. I have had many mechanical repairs and am now moving towards building up the rig for longer trips. I look forward to meeting new friends and finding others with Land Rovers!

Good day Everyone,
My name is William but go by Bill. My dad started us out overlanding in a ‘66 olds station wagon. We saw a lot of the west in that and a ‘72 olds vista cruiser. We just called it car camping with lots of hiking and fishing. I did the same with my family with a variety of trucks, campers, tents, trailers and SUVs. My Wife and I currently live just outside placerville CA And have an LX450 (80 series Land Cruiser in disguise) That we have had since ’97. We recently acquired a used MOAB trailer and have had a ball dragging it around Nevada this last year. We are always trying new things and looking for ways to make our overlanding adventures easier, safer and most of all enjoyable. I am still trying to find the balance point of not overpacking, but still being prepared. When we get to the end of the overland roads, we break our mules out and pack into the way back country To really get a way. Looking forward to sharing what we have learned and learning more about how you all overland.
regards,

Hey Community! First of Michael, thanks for the well thought out videos. I found you all through YouTube and excited to get started here. I've been a backpacker for a long time and occasional car camper, but normally with a bit of a hike. We've got a little girl on the way and are looking to make the change to more truck based stuff so we can camp more often than not.

New Members,

Welcome to the Overland Bound community! Please take a few moments to introduce yourself so we can get to know you!

A few things you might want to include in your introduction are:

1) Picture! If you have a rig, we want to see it!
2) Location (General area is fine)
3) Rig (Year, Make, Model, etc.)
4) Overlanding Experience Background (Novice or Experienced, you're welcome here!)

We're glad you've found us and look forward to sharing our adventures with you!

In addition to getting to know you, here are the guideline sent to all Moderators of the forums. It's a natural reflection of our community, and what Overland Bound is all about:

From @administrator
  • Overlanding is: "Vehicle Dependent Travel". Nothing else.
  • We will not further define "overlanding".
  • "Capable" depends on the requirements of the trip, and we take that very seriously.
  • You are an Overlander: Overlanding is for everyone who has exploration and adventure in their heart, or, who need to be reinvigorated by connecting with nature. Nature is unforgiving. You must rise to a certain level of personal awareness to survive. Sound right? Overlanding is for you.
  • Encourage uncomplicated ventures into the great outdoors. Don't over pack.
  • Be prepared, and understand basic requirements. Question folks, to be sure they are aware of what is required. Don't assume.
  • Share without reservation, trip locations, and information.
  • It doesn't matter what you drive: The only requirement of an Overlander is that the vehicle serves the job required, safely.
  • We do not care about make or model.
  • We do not engage in "this is better than that" competitions.
  • We DO give advice about how to make your vehicle ready for what you need. Share knowledge.
  • Humility.
  • We respect, fear, and protect nature.
  • "I don't know" is a great answer.
  • We don’t brag about exploits.
  • We seek answers from the community when we don’t know.
  • We engage in the very smallest of interactions.
New member from Orange County here. I picked up a '20 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon and have been getting out on local trails and looking forward to the overlanding experience.

G'day everyone,

I'm Garry, here's my beaut in a natural setting!

IMG-20191124-WA0007~2.jpg

I'm based in Melbourne, Australia and enjoy building up my '93 FZJ80 LandCruiser.

Experience is somewhere closer to novice, there's always more to learn! That said I've learned a great deal since I started in 2017, including knowing that rolling down hills is to be avoided at all costs.IMG_9457.JPG Learning the hard way!

Feel free to reach out if you're in the area and looking for an adventure.

Cheers
Garry
