Hey Everyone

My name I Mike
I live in Berkley MI
I have a 14 JK Rubicon
I have been offroading with my Jeep since I got it two years ago and been camping in it. I've been to the three off-road parks in SE Michigan and had my bachelor party on Drummond Island (which was a blast). The picture if from the Mounds on MLK day. So I so a beginner overlander.

I built a wood platform for me and my wife to sleep in the back of the jeep and store our gear below. So I'm looking get into longer overlanding trips and want to head west and explore the Rockies in my Jeep.
Hi Mike and welcome to OB! Nice looking JK! Safe travels and enjoy those open roads!

Hello fellow enthusiasts,

I am an experienced off roader, mechanic, amateur machinist and backpacker. I've spent the last 11 years hiking around the country with my yellow lab. This fall she was diagnosed with spinal arthritis so we've hung up the boots. In an effort to keep her included in our adventures we have turned to overlanding. We seek a mix of moderate off road fun combined with quite time enjoying nature. We are currently outfitting a 2017 TRD 4Runner to meet these demands.

GEARS

HI Gears and welcome to OB! Nice looking 4Runner and yellow lab! Safe travels and enjoy those open roads!

Hey everybody, I'm Dave.
I'm up in Illinois next to the Wisonsin Border. For me this all started as a city kid camping, then a move to the mountains of Arkansas as a 6th grader, and then back to the city, and friends in the farming community with EPIC bonfires. After high school in '89 was the military. I started in intelligence, and got hurt, then I was transferred to aircraft mechanics. I spent some time in the California desert, then camping in Louisiana in the mid 90's.
After that I got into a big 4 wheeling thing, then my daughter arrived, and the Jeeps were sold in favor of an SUV...
I struggled between my love for the Toyota FJ, and my love for the military. I ended up with my H3 as a "comprimise"... When the transmission gave up the ghost, I gutted it, to build into a more capable vehicle to my standards and needs. Then I started seeing a lot of awesome camping pick-ups, and overlanding SUV's, and I was so intrigued, I totally put the build on hold. Now my only goal is have it back under it's own power, and camping by the 4th of July.
And I have a dog.
Hi Dave and welcome to OB! Nice rig! Thank you for your service! Safe travels, enjoy those open roads and good luck on your build!

Hello
My name is Clint. I live in Southeast Tucson, AZ currently and have a 2016 JKU. I am pretty much a novice, leaning towards advanced novice HAHA. Mostly had 4 wheel drives since I learned how to drive in the mid 90's but never got too hard core. Always enjoyed exploring on little trips locally and especially when I lived in Reno, NV.
Hi Clint and welcome to OB! Nice rig! Safe travels and enjoy those open roads!

View attachment 45448 Hey there, been a member for a while but have never introduced myself or really posted much of anything on here. So I currently own a 2007 FJ and gotta say best rig I have ever owed. I have owned pretty much every Toyota out there but a highlander or a Prius ha. I'd say pretty up there in the knowledge /experience of Overlanding. Have put on about 50k miles in 2 years and got another 3k trip planned next month. Live in Bend, Oregon and love getting out in the wilderness here. Hooefully met some of you on our journeys :)
Hi Jacyb and welcome to OB! Nice looking FJ! Safe travels and enjoy those open roads!

A little tight doing this with a phone!
Ara and Spirit here. Long story short...
Left for the road full time on November 6th 2006 with 95 BMW GS motorcycle and a sidecar for my buddy Spirit, rescued Pit. 8 years later while also having an off the grid Base Camp in Big Bend TX as the body needed new parts [that would be mine!] we ended up trailering three sidecar with a 2000 Ford f350 7.2 Turbo diesel 4x4 with lockers 4 doors [the good year!] mounted with a 2004 4 season Northern Lite slide in camper totally self contained. Needing more body work we sold The Oasis [Texas] and 6 months ago bought a great little home in Alamogordo New Mexico 16 miles away from Cloudcroft, the Sacramento Mountains and Lincoln National Forest. Heaven! It will be shorter Journeys from now on exploring this Gem of a State and of course the adjacent ones with camper only! The sidecar is for local rides now. Our tenting days are over after 11 years full time camping. [hips, spine plate, bypasses, stents and more stents!
I have kept a mental and photographic Journal since day one
www.TheOasisOfMySoul.com
and also now giving credit to our new State
www.TheNewMexicoRoads.com
Hoping all this makes sense!
Stay well.
Ara and Spirit

Welcome! Even if it's a bit late.

I am pretty sure I saw you riding your motorcycle and side car in the last couple of weeks, you were possibly coming back from Cruces or White Sands. Not too many side cars here in Alamo! :)

Hello All :)

I'm still learning the in's & out's of a forum, but glad to be here. I was very excited when my member number showed up in my email yesterday.

Before the military, I was a typical car guy (sports cars, muscle cars, etc). Since the military, I have only owned 4x4s (oh and that was the mid-80's) so I have owned around a dozen rigs, from Landcruisers, Broncos & Jeeps.

Live in the Pacific Northwest (WA), the current rig is a '99 Jeep TJ (sport). I have this vehicle packed and ready for bugging out!

My hard off-roading days are behind me (just fyi), I love to explore, but more along the line of scenic roads, old hwy's, logging roads, farm roads, beaches things like that.

I am known for heading for the hills on days off, or find a backroad and head whatever direction. My current job typically doesn't start until 2 or 3 in the afternoon, so I might even take off early in the morning and just drive - I love driving.
Oh and if it is stormy, rainy, snowy, foggy - I'm all over it! Even if I am just waking up in the morning, and weather is bad, I wake up like a kid on Christmas morning

I have many things I want to do to this Jeep, so I am open to ideas, thoughts, suggestions - currently, trying to decide - flat fenders or pocket style?

G'day Guys

Chris here from Western Australia
just stumbled across this website and looks like a great place
I own a 2006, 105 series land Crusier
car is not seriously modified just enough to get out there and do some touring (over landing)

my car has a Toyota 1HZ 4.2l diesel engine with an aftermarket safari turbo kit and has been rebuilt to withstand the boost by myself.
I run a 3inch lift front and rear and 33inch BFG All Terrains on Allied Tomohawk rims
bar work comprises of ARB front bar and MCC rear bar with twin wheel carrier (not shown in photos)
so many other things to lift but I think that will do for now unless you guys want a full rundown haha

Hello Everyone,

Just found this site, and excited to be here. My family has been RVing, camping, hiking and backpacking across the country for years. I look forward to getting to know people with the same interests we have. My wife and I are teachers, so each summer we pack up and head to the national parks.

Homebase: Kingwood, Texas
Current Vehicle: 2011 Toyota Tundra
Previous Vehicles: 2007 F250 FX4, 1994 YJ, 1984 CJ-7
Overland Experience: Moderate

Here is a pic of the current rig with a little snow from a few days ago. We don't see much of this in the Houston area.
