[The Detour Ahead]

Hi All,

My name's Drew, and I enjoy traveling with my girlfriend, Morgan, and our dog, Moto. Currently, I have a Triumph Tiger ADV motorcycle, Triumph Trophy touring motorcycle, and a Honda Fit. While each vehicle serves a purpose, none of them is really great for two people (and the dog occasionally) to travel both on- and off-road comfortably or effectively. I grew up taking a lot of family road trips and have also been into motorcycle touring since I started riding at age 16. Over the past few years, Morgan and I have become more interested in being able to travel to more places more comfortably, which has shifted our focus to the world of overlanding. Since the motorcycle passion is mine and not hers, the goal is to go from 2 bikes to 1 and to replace the little Honda with something more capable...without breaking the bank. While we'd love to get more off the beaten path, we aren't so interested in 'wheeling' or getting stuck just for the sake of getting stuck (of course there's nothing wrong with that). We live in the city and don't have a garage, so trailers and full-size rigs just aren't feasible. Therefore, our early considerations are a capable van (a friend of mine like's his Delica) or a small suv that we could sleep in.

We are a family of 4 that is new to overlanding we have always been outdoor people enjoying camping and trips to the lake. We are currently building a 1990 K5 Blazer to start taking some trips in.

Great rig! Is that @ Pismo? I ordered a roof top tent back in February. Will get it soon hopefully. First trip will be taking the family camping on the beach in the Oceano Dunes!

Hey Olaf! Thanks man, and you are correct! Took the truck out to play in the sand for a weekend over the summer, it's truly the wild west out there. It can stay pretty loud at night because people like to keep riding into the wee hours of the morning so if you are trying to avoid that I'd recommend going early Fall or late Winter to miss the dense crowds.

Hi guys and gals! My name is Adam, and I’m located in Chesterton, IN. My rig is an inferno orange 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD- Off-Road with 5ft bed. I’ve got a lot of mods I’d like to do in the future for this truck, but I don’t want to get too carried away with it, it being my daily driver. With that being said, I’m very new to off-roading, but I’m eager to learn as much as possible about it and have some fun along the way. I really enjoy hiking and camping and can’t wait to explore some trails. I haven’t met any overland members in my area yet, but would like to.

Hey everyone! I'm Howard, and I'll try to follow the OP's format closely!
1) Picture
2) I'm moving soon to DFW area and look forward to exploring everything within driving distance, especially in the OK and AR areas.
3) My "Rig" is just a stock 2013 Subaru Forester, but it serves my needs well and I feel very blessed to own it!
4) Experience: I'm BRAND NEW TO THIS! Most of my travel experience has been foot-based travel. I have a just a handful of offroad driving experiences and have never completed an overland trip, so I'm a blank page in this regard.

I'm interested in learning all about well-planned, responsible overland travel. I am a brand new medical doctor interested in disaster relief and expeditionary medicine to remote areas, and though I'm a long way from being capable in those environments, I'd love to be connected with any members with experiences related to remote medicine.

I'm actually headed up to Oklahoma this weekend in search of some trails to camp on. Do you know of anything that might be accessible with all the COVID shutdowns going on? We were especially looking at the forest service roads around the broken bow area, such as east of the lake.

Miller from SC here. I’ve been dabbling in this for some years now, but the current pandemic has me pining for fields afar. Planning my great XC road trip for 2021 from the east coast to the Pacific and then making a left and driving on until Todos Santos. Currently have a full stable, though it’s probably time to part ways with my modestly built surf rig LC And focus full time on the 2019 4R. Starting with the shoes and working my way up, I’ve got a pretty decent idea of what I’m going for but still flexible as to the finished project. Look forward to connecting!
