With paint finally back on the inside of the cab floor, I started adding some sound damper to help cut down on engine and road noise. This stuff is pretty straightforward to apply, and gives a nice finish when it’s done.

One thing I had been avoiding was replacing the batteries, since I knew the truck was still going to be idle for a while - but I decided that I was sick of boosting the truck every time I needed to move it, so battery replacement time it is!

Oh boy, I’ve got some catching up to do in this thread!!

The first step in building an overlander, was sorting out what was going on with the chassis, and sub-frame - so, time to cut off the old and start building!!

With the sub-frame removed, I could figure out what goes on with the chassis, when it gets twisted up. Or, at least, I could get confirmation that I didn’t know what I thought I knew.... with this understanding, Ill hopefully be able to avoid stressing the composite habitat box, and not concentrate stress on the chassis.

While working on the design of the sub-frame, I thought it was a good time to tackle some of the diagnostics of the fault codes I had going on....

And, since things are never as simple as we want, this was going to take some good head scratching to sort out.

So, now back to this idea of preventing the stress of the chassis from getting into the composite box... time to try out making a spring mount!

And since I was now actually moving the truck around a bit, I figure it’s time to get some fresh oil in there!

The sides and deck will be connected using T-slot extrusion, which will also allow for the future attachment of the storage boxes that will go below the deck.

And, sometimes, you have to work backwards to fix an earlier oversight...

The front end of the flat deck will need to have some sort of protection for the back of the cab, but I don’t want anything huge...

With the floor starting to take shape, and decent weather, it was time to start tackling the nasty RUST on the chassis!!
