Definitely not technical, but very visual. Trying to get a predator to eat a bit of feathers, fluff and foam when he would really rather nibble on you is kind of like fishing for your cat. It does take on an air of seriousness when you hook the cat and he is bigger than you, crazy fast, jumps (a lot), has a bunch of teeth and is pissed. Not for everyone for sure, but a welcome distraction every year or two. If it will take a fly, I'm in. I'll be heading back to Punta Allen in May for Permit, Tarpon, Bonefish and whatever else swims by...Thanks for the recommendation @OregonTrail4runner. I enjoy flats fishing, the sight fishing is challenging and the water is typically really beautiful. If Mako fishing is like the other deep water fly fishing (either using teasers and/or live bait) I end up feeling like it is chumming. Just not my thing.
