What size of grounds do you use?I use a Bialetti Moka pot everyday at home and have found no reason to switch to anything else when I am camping.

And - I thought, that I had an olde Coleman Stove.Plain old faithful Colman stove and a perculater. If I'm back country enough to not have the stove with me I just bring instant coffee.

Amen, that is why I can’t replace my 80’s Coleman stove, I had an even older one until I went into the Army in 1977 and it grew legs and walked away while I was gone.Lol the new ones just aren't the same

I'm looking forward to using my new Coffee Press/Overland Bound Bundle on my first winter camping trip in a few weeks.I love my coffee, or as we call it where I am from Swedish Gasoline!
I use a simple pour over set up for my coffee.
What do you use?
Yeppers me too Jolt!yeah, i drink whatever has sugar and caffeine in it. back in the 80s i drank Jolt cola when it came out because it boasted "all the sugar and twice the caffeine" as coke. i hadn't seen it for a long time and last year i saw some at a dollar General in arkansas, so i loaded up.
might sound weird, but i have put instant coffee in cola and got a nice caffeine boosted cola/coffee.
i do press and cowboy coffee a lot camping and ALWAYS take instant to mix in with a cola or mix with hot chocolate or when i really need a fix, i will dip coffee like it was Skoal.
there is no "perfect" coffee set up....just whatever gets the caffeine moving from the product to coursing thru my veins as fast and easy as possible...

Back in the day, I made it from NE Kansas to Southern CA in 28 straight hrs. All on a half a box of no doze and a 6 pack of Jolt! :DYeppers me too Jolt!
I found a old enamel coffee pot (5 quart) I cleaned it up and plan on using it @ camp Question is 5 quarts of water , how much coffee should I add to water before boiling? And do you use the cold water method to settle the grounds or drop eggs in it to catch them ? Thanks in advanceI use all of the methods.
Via when I'm lazy.
Pourover, Sweet Maria Smart Dripper. Very good pourver method, lets you steep it for a few minutes before dripping.
Pourover, MSR coffee strainer. Very good and quick and easy for small cups. Does get grit in the coffee.
(I use a chemex at home, best drip system hands down)
French press: JetBoil, easy and quick and nice to have a dedicated stove/coffee maker for overlanding.
French press: Stanley MVCS, best all around.
This summer we settled on the Stanley Mountain Vacuum Coffee System. It is nice to use the pot to portion the water and boil it. The french press makes a nice easy pot of coffee. Then the vacuum bottle keeps it warm while we nurse it all morning. I get up earlier than my wife, so this way I don't have to make another fresh cup for her.
Here's a video review I did of the Stanley system:
I also tried Kuju disposable pour over. It's good, but not fast and not enough coffee: read more
