Well we've found out this park is entirely too close to the city. Like a few miles to Troy.
100 camp sites and way too busy. We sort of knew that coming in but these folks are from mostly the St.Louis area and in a hurry to get in and out. Too much action for me.
Some nice sites along the way but will happy to be in Southern Missouri on the 1st of November.

Some more Civilian Conversation Corps pics. Ranger Station was built in 1938 and it shows many years before with some young men who built these parks around the Country.

This bridge was built in 1938 and if you notice the top layer of stone stops almost at the end. This is the point when these men left the camp and went off to fight in WWII.

You will not see this level of craftsmanship anymore.

Wow it's been a week. Headed down to Springfield Missouri and spent some time with family and friends. Worked there for about 5 years prior but left the town due to crime and drugs.

Well finally finished the work at Cuivre River and relocated south to West Plains Missouri. I'm glad to be back in the Ozarks and resting. LOL
Here's some other photos of things along the way.

Noblett Lake, West Plains. Another CCC built park operated by the US Forest Service.

Well the journey is almost over. We're grounded now in Southern Missouri and suffering a very bad winter. LOL. I'm a Eagle Scout and found myself very unprepared for this weather towing a travel trailer. Surprising because we've lived through several bad winters here with subzero weather into the -5 area but this has almost ended the adventure.
Currently recovering from a frozen forward grey tank drain, frozen hot water heater, and a slow black water tank. Getting better now but holy freezer week.
Looking for a house in a horrible market with a garage is silly. LOL. We'll do fine. Spring is a few months away.
Here are some cell phone pics of the adventure so far. Film at 11.

Found a topper up the road a few miles for $350. Stole it.

Started a mock-up build out for twin beds and a toilet.

Then the cold weather hit. I can work outside in 38* but the teens and below are for crazy people.

Well it's been a while since I posted here. I'm back to work part time and saving some "boot money" for round two. Headed west next year we hope and can't wait.
I've done some short trips but work has me busy and also working on the truck. Mod's never stop. LOL

Its wonderful. Demographic is hurting from poverty. Lack of education as far as I can see. I deal in auto parts and they're still dragging junk out of the woods and real proud of it too.
The Forest is Magnificent. Make sure you do the 11 point river and see the 220,000,000 gallon spring "Greer" Nice hike and just beautiful.
Alley Spring, Elephant Rocks, Council Bluff, St. Joe SP, and many more. I'm deep in and if you need some other info let me know.

So after several months of wrestling with this twin bed setup I'm done. I've had it. Out it came the last two days and in comes the drawer system which arrives tomorrow. I put in the gasket on the topper and put the headache rack back on. Mounting the antennas back and doing a rewire of the entire vehicle over the next few weeks.
I'm stoked.

i liked your set up, but i can see where the twin bed set up would have some issues. i think it would be easier to work with if you had more headspace, but in a shell, you are very limited. what did you buy? i built my own deck system with 2 slide out drawers 6' long and a solid top to sleep on. i like your twin set up with the middle open so you can sit and have room for your legs, but if you really dont use it like that very often, then having the solid level deck is better for sleeping and storage.
interested to see what you bought and how you incorporate it in the shell...

So funny story. The idea was pretty good but designed around the height of the toilet. Did all this in a hurry to go to a rally race in the forest and work as a marshal. Anyway, did all that and slept in the back that night. Around 3am woke up and had to crap. Dude. I looked like a fricken monkey fricken a football raising the seat, pulling down things and hovering over the drop zone. Probably was close to crapping all over the back of the truck. At that moment I decided it was all coming out. LMMFAO.
