Im coming from Santa Cruz and could join however i'm taking my 1982 fj60 and it is stupid slow on the highway. I am usually tagging along with the 18 wheelers up hills and topping out at 60- 65 with a tail wind! . Anyone else driving anything classic or slow?
I'll have the trailer and 3 kids and a dog in tow. I'm slow out of the gates and slow on the freeway

I've put my OB number on the front and rear, 3" reflective numbers. Works within around 10 car lengths or so.

One more Rig added to the Bay Area Convoy ! We have 16 Rigs from the Bay Area, then another 4-5 Rigs from the Napa Convoy and another 5-6 Rigs from the Sacramento Convoy. The Mother Convoy will be 1/3 of the OTG Rally showing up at the same time. Hopefully we don't piss off the Camp Host. :grimacing:

Whoever has the lead on this convoy should put together a map/timetable for those people who don't know the area. Like me.
I'll post of the information again for those of you that are just showing up to the party. :tonguewink: The timetables are not set in stone, it's not like a "Race to Witch Mountain" its more like a Race to Bald Mountain. :grinning: JK
It would be great to keep the Convoy together all the way to the campsite since we'll have Rigs towing trailers and the older rigs that don't get great gas mileage.
I will repost the information a week before the 2016 OTG Rally. Please post any suggestions and changes you recommend, we still have plenty of time before the Rally.

Here's the map and timetable.
The Bay Area's Convoy meeting spot will be at the Starbucks parking lot in Gilroy at 7:00am-7:30am. Its on Camino Arroyo and HWY 152 (south side of HWY 152) A shell gas station is on the corner for anyone needing to gas up. From there, we will make a pit stop in Madera's Walmart parking lot between 9:30 -10:00am so we can hook up with the Napa Convoy and Sacramento Convoy. From Madera we will take HWY 145 to HWY 168 to Shaver lake. If everything goes to schedule, then we should be pulling into the OB Campsite around 11:30am -1200pm where @SLO Rob will be handing out beers to the Convoy.

A good last stop for you guys to gas up (it's a little more expensive up at Shaver) is the town of Prather. They have a grocery store/gas/ice etc. It's also a good place to let people catch up...if you have haven't been to the area before, its a curvy road that leads up to it, so you may be spread out. From there it's "the grade" on up.

We're talking to Firestone Walker to see if they'd like to "sponsor" us! Fingers crossed!

Great idea Rob! Any objections to stopping at Prather for gas?

Firestone Walker as a sponsor! Now, that would be cool!

Prather to Camp Edison is only 26 miles... there's a Napa in Auberry (nearby) if needed too.

I have mentioned it before but I will need diesel fuel. Not too sure of the area we are going but I am sure someone will have diesel. I only us name brand though unless necessary (don't want a bad tank of fuel). Anyone who went last year have some local Intel on diesel ?

Prather Shell has Diesel. But it is only 60 miles of pavement each way from Madera, plus 20 each way to trail head and about 20 miles of offroad. So 180 total round trip to Madera. Fuel should not be an issue if you fill in Madera where we meet up.

@Meta6981 I just called the Prather Shell gas station and they sell diesel fuel. Will you be OK from Madera to Prather?

I was thinking..(not always a good idea but).. Since we are arriving at camp so early on Friday, I think it would be really cool if we did some type of informal classes or presentations. I would love to learn more about first aid from an emt/ paramedic, learn about solar panels for our rigs, using high lift jack, navigating with a compass etc. Im not even sure if there are things planned for Friday but just a thought.
