Quick Release RTT mounts for Sherpa/Prinsu?

Hey y'all. I saw the quick release RTT mounts for FrontRunner, and wondered if they would work for Sherpa/Prinsu racks. I don't think they will, because it looks like they're only for single-channel crossbars. Would this quick release mount work for Sherpa/Prinsu? Are there others that would work?

How can I make this fuse/relay box water resistant?

Took a gamble on a cheap fuse/relay box and switch panel. So far it's been great, but I can't close the fuse/relay box lid, because they don't account for the battery cables. Hah! What could be the best way to go about making this more water resistant? I'm thinking I could use a large drill...

Fuji the FJ's maiden voyage | Naneum Ridge to Columbia River

Hey y'all! Newbie overlander here, and I upgraded from my Honda Element "Henry" to a 2008 FJ Cruiser "Fuji" in December. Since then, I've added a roof rack, RTT, and various other things, to prepare it for overlanding. This trip was its maiden voyage and the goal her was to really learn both the...

What do we think of Anker's new battery-powered cooler?

Hey y'all. Anker has a new battery-powered cooler on Kickstarter (I won't post links, because I don't want to be accused of being a shill haha). I don't yet have a powered cooler, mostly because I haven't spent to time to research them. What looks interesting about this cooler, however, is...

Looking to add 6 light pods and a switch panel

Hey y'all. Electrical is definitely not my thing. I've spliced wires before, but that's about it. Here's what I'm planning: - 2 spot light pods - roof front - 2 flood light pods - rear roof - 2 diffused light pods or light bar - roof front or bumper - 8 gang switch panel Each one has the...

    Rack-mounted ladder hooks?

Hey y'all. I have a telescoping ladder with hooks on the end. It came with my Desert Armor UL RTT. It came with mounts that attach to the underside of the tent, but it doesn't clear my Sherpa rack. I attached the ladder mounts to the side rail of the Sherpa rack but had to use spacers to get it...

    CafeRoaster's '08 FJ Cruiser

Hey y'all. I'm excited to have joined the club a couple of weeks ago. Picked up this beautiful 2008 Platinum FJC with Auto, A-TRAC, Rear Lockers, and parking sensor. Just under 183,000 miles for $15,500 here in Seattle. I'm moving up from a 2005 Honda Element AWD that I highly modified, but...

    Mounting your devices.

I'm in the process of many things, one of those being setting up my device mounting situation. I'll be mount just an iPhone 12 Pro Max at first, then an iPad in the future, and a radio handset. I'm leaning toward using RAM mounts. However, I'm at odds with what base to use. I could go with the...

How often does the Sherpa Fuji rack go on sale?

Seeing it on sale now, but I need to sell my other rig before I can even think about getting a rack for the FJ that I just bought, if I also plan on sleeping inside. But, do they go on sale often or rarely?

Continue building my Honda Element or find a Tacoma or 4Runner?

Hey y'all. Amateur overlander here. I just purchased a RTT for my Honda Element, and I'm budgeting for a roof rack now. Roof racks for mounting a RTT for the Element are $1,100, about $200 more than a Prinsu. This got me thinking... What else is the same cost or more for Toyotas - proven...

    Let's talk batteries.

I am on the hunt for a battery that can handle at least some load when the vehicle is off. I have a dash cam with parking mode that killed my current Walmart battery (it was a temporary anyways while I build my rig). That battery fails to start every now and then, and is just so sluggish to...

    Mounting items to cargo basket?

Hi folks! So I've got a cargo basket, and I'll need to mount my full-size spare tire up there, probably my Plano case, my shovel, etc. However, I haven't seen anything used to mount items other than straps. What am I missing? Or do I just need to get some U-bolts...?

Gear for starting out? (Check my list!)

Hi folks. I’m starting out fresh with a silly AWD Element, and I’d like to compile a decent basics list. I’ve read some in some articles, but would like to run this by y’all as well. I’m going to be starting on USFS and BLM roads, and it’ll just be my dog and I till I find some folks to go...

2005 Honda Element EX AWD - "Henry Honk"

Hi folks! I know this isn't your typical vehicle you find around here, but it's also not super rare. The Element is basically a boxed-out CR-V. Everything but the body and most of the interior are exactly the same. The great thing about that is the reliability. The 2.4 L 4-cylinder is also not...
