Just lost my grandmother to alzheimers a couple weeks ago. Such a difficult situation to be in for anyone that has loved ones that suffer from the disease. My heart goes out to you bud.
At 6200ft that might be a challenge considering the predicted snow storm for the next few days. Even with 4wd and a locker I'm not do sure I would venture that trail alone...lol
Recently installed a 3" lift and 32" tires on my 5th gen 4runner.
Trying to plan a weekend trip into the Blues to find a decent Christmas tree also.
And my long term winter project is an engine rebuild on my 97 Montero.
So the family and I have decided to cut our own tree this year and got a permit for the Umatilla national forest.
Anyone have a suggestion on good place to look for a tree?
That's not a Jeep comanche. It's a Jeep J10 or J20 pickup....late 60's or very early 70's model.
They are fantastic trucks! That is one very lucky young man. I would have killed for a truck like that when I was his age...lol.
I feel you man. That's one reason I chose the montero to begin with....unique and very capable. But sadly they get little to no support in the US market for parts. I plan rebuilding....but at a slow and steady pace.
So it looks like I'm going to go with the 2011 4Runner SR5. Looks like there is decent aftermarket support and you can't really beat the Toyota reliability.
Wish me luck.... think I'm gonna need it...lol
Yes the body and frame are in good shape. I considered an engine swap to the Mitsubishi 3.8l..... or a possible LS. But the thought of doing so is pretty daunting honestly. That would necessitate quite a bit of fabrication....and upgrades to the electrical system as well. I'm not planning on...
I honestly have no clue on which gen is which on the 4Runners. Would a 2012 be a 5th gen....or a 4th gen? Are the the 4th gen as good as the current gen??
Toyota reliability is a huge upside for me...... But the jeeps seem more buildable through the aftermarket.
Now you are just toying with my emotions....lol
I've had several FSJ's..... 76 cherokee 4dr, 80 Grand Wagoneer, and a 78 Wagoneer with the Levi's interior. I truly love those rigs but man do they have a wide footprint. Not sure they would fit on some of the trails the monty went down.
One of these days I will make it out to a damn trail run with you all.
Sadly my Montero committed suicide the other day..... so the search for a suitable replacement is underway.
Great suggestions guys. I've never been sold on the WJ grand Cherokees personally.... FSJ Chefokee on the other hand is my dream rig...lol.
What do you all think about the 4runners? I've got a lead on a 2012 SR5 with less than 100k.
But I also have a lead on an 2008 Wrangler Rubicon with...
Well it's with a heavy heart that I announce that my beloved Gen 2 Montero has passed on the the big rust pile in the sky.
After 222k miles the engine decided that it had lived its life and threw a rod at 65mph on my way to deer camp. Sadly the Mitsubishi 3.5l engine is not an easy thing to...
I would go to a body shop or automotive paint supply place for those clips. I have had pretty good luck in the past at both those places.
I'm really digging that hitch step.
