    GMRS

Sometimes I do, but it seems kinda superfluous since FRS shares the same frequencies and they require no callsign.

    Cancelled New Mexico BDR Trip!

Best bets along the route are the Jemez between Cuba and Abiquiu, the Chama below the dam at Abiquiu lake, the Rio de los Pinos just south of the CO border, and the Conejos River just north of the Colorado border.

    Driver training

I took a recovery class from Bill Burke just after I got the van. I learned some things but the best part was doing hands on recoveries in a controlled, low risk setting.

Question - if you go full-time...

South Dakota is full-timer friendly for vehicle registrations, etc. Generally, where your vehicle is registered is considered your state of residence for income tax purposes. Many people use Texas or Florida because they have no individual state income tax.

    Cancelled New Mexico BDR Trip!

I don't think you'd have any problems. Chloride canyon is a little twisty but I think a small offroad trailer would be fine. There is a hairpin at the exit that you might need to 3 point. There's a narrow section with banks on both sides dropping out of Cloudcroft that would be tight if you...

    Cancelled New Mexico BDR Trip!

We took 6 days, including the drive from Las Cruces, NM to Dell City, TX. Our run through the Mescalero Apache Reservation around Ruidoso was quicker than usual because the reservation roads were all closed so we stayed on pavement. If I was doing it again I would probably add a day. We hit...

Third try - now a Bison!

I just replaced a rear DSSV on my 2019 ZR2 days before the warranty ran (on time). Only 15k on the truck with little serious offroading. The DSSVs ride great but seem to be not very durable. When the next one goes, I'll be looking for something more durable and less expensive too.
