Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Still have some buttoning up to do, but there's a first look. The winch sits in there really tight and it goes back together like a jigsaw puzzle. You can see I got a little carried away trimming the grill for the clutch release good thing I have another grill at home, I can give a version...
Now that things are starting to open back up should we start thinking about a June meet up? Day trip? Overnighter? Get together for food and drink... 6 feet apart?
Not sure if I mentioned earlier but the shackle mounts and wings are bolt on so I can easily pull them off if I want to change things up or if I ever wad one up by hitting something.
For now I capped the end of the tubes with a piece of plate that also ties them together. I'll probably end up building a filler plate like you said between the tubes with dimple died holes, just haven't decided if I want to put lights in the plate or not. For now I'm just going to rattle can...
Ya, I need to cap the end of the tubes to tie them together and probably put a filler plate of some kind between the tubes. I was think about flush mount lights in the filler plates but that would have them pointed down and out like a ditch light.
I need a critique and some constructive criticism cuz honestly I'm on the fence if I like my bumper... not fishing for complements just need your eyes to tell me where I can improve. I really want to like it since I spent a bunch of time on it but idk. I don't totally like the bottom tube not...
Bumper is getting closer to finished. Spent Thursday night putting my tube bender together and building a stand, for a super cheap set up it makes pretty nice bends. Last night I trimmed more unneeded sheet metal from the wheel wells and beat the pinch welds in with a BFH. Made a couple...
Yep! you're already on it... My cargo area is more raised than the seat area compared to yours. If i wanted to have it flat to sleep on and have some head room I would only be able to build something where the rear seats are. But it looks like you could raise yours up some and have tons of...
On my WJ I plan to do something similar to this and already have the seat bottoms out with a temporary platform made. But if you already have the seat bottoms out why not pull out the backs also, allowing you to build in more storage? My thought is if the bottoms are out and you don't pack...
Bumper Update... not done but getting there.
I first started off trimming the front fenders to where I think I will need them when I eventually move up in lift and tire size. As it was I had a little bit of rubbing when flexed but that shouldn't be an issue anymore, might even be able to go up...
Really like the truck! We have one around the farm that was converted to a 300 straight 6, I wanted to buy it and build it out but one of my coworkers got to it before me. Not sure who you're using for parts but I've had pretty good luck with Boyce Equipment out of Utah. We have 11 M900 6x6's...
Got some more worked knocked out on the Grand! Front fenders trimmed and got the center section of my bumper welded up and mounted. Now I need to figure out how I want to do the outer wings, then rhino line it and mount the winch. Hope you're ready for some trail runs @JL Lou, I got a couple...
Took the WJ out on a little shake down trip this weekend and everything worked great. Ran good, my lights worked (had to rewire one cuz I pulled the wires out when I was unloading the roof rack) and the rack was plenty stout when loaded. Took it out on some trails and played in the snow a bit...
Thank you! I was able to get it about an 1 1/2"-2" closer to the roof by doing away with the factory rails, the cross bars for the basket are about 1/2" off the roof at the closest point. And it is SOLID! I can grab hold of it and shake the WJ pretty good, doesn't feel like it's going anywhere.
Just didn't put it back on after the last round of work. Hope to make some more progress on the new one this week. It would be nice to get it together so I can put a winch on, didn't get stuck this weekend but I might have tried to push it a little more if i had one. I'll let you know next...
