Great thread! Some super interesting stories in here! Mine started about 41 years ago (I'm 41,lol). I've been camping pretty much my entire life. Did tons of camping, either with the family, or through my adventures through scouts. I learned about this style of travel early in the expedition...

    Reaver's DIY adventure box!

When trying to figure out the spare, I discovered I can get to the hoist through the hitch in the bumper. I got it lowered, and the realized that the hoist wouldn't fit inside the wheel... Time for some macgyvering! I realized I can take the hoist that goes inside the rim apart, and that it...

    Reaver's DIY adventure box!

And fridge slide walls are built! I had to take the wheels and handle off the fridge for it to fit, but there's no issue with that. Now, originally, I planned on putting the spare for the trailer underneath the X where the oem spare tire goes.... I'm not sure now that would work. I don't...

US Southeast CVT Mt St Helens Hard shell RTT $900 obo

This is one helluva deal. I'm surprised you've not sold it yet. If I wasn't across the country, and already had two tents, I'd buy this myself! GLWS

    Reaver's DIY adventure box!

I put the power box and inverter into the tent last night. I pulled the fuse to make sure I didn't short anything out. When putting the multi-meter on the wires, I noticed that polarity of the red/black wires was reversed, so I fixed that as well. Hoping that I can get the walls for the fridge...

    Reaver's DIY adventure box!

I also managed to find a spot to stick two Jerry cans in front of the tongue box! This brings to the total amount of gas that I can carry to about 39 Gal (including the stock tank on the X). The last task on the build list for the trailer prior to the BDR is to build some walls for the fridge...

Reminds me of the setup I used on my very first trip. Also, man, I've not seen a Comanche is a long time. Nice rig!

    Reaver's DIY adventure box!

I managed to get some crossbars made for the front of the trailer, and mounted an ATV cargo box that I originally had on the Xterra to them. This should give me a place where I can put things like the jack, blocks, and a few other bits that will need to be easily accessible.

Reaver's 03 Xterra XE "Gamora" build thread

I managed to knock a few things off the to-do list over the weekend. Got my modular drawer system built! I've already started moving things out of some of the totes, and into the drawers. Over memorial day, we kept having to dig out the bin in the trailer with the pots and pans, which for a...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Built a second set of drawers for quick access to stuff we'll use very frequently on the bdr. **EDIT** Finished said drawers. Got the slides mounted. No I just need to fill them.

    Homemade expedition trailer

I agree, that doors are worth it, as I'd wish I'd done that in the first place. I love DIY trailer threads. :grinning:

    Homemade expedition trailer

I like this! Nicely done. I wish I'd had the foresight to buy doors on mine, instead of trying to build them myself. Alas, now it's harder to try and retrofit them, or seal up the current doors than it would have been to just buy doors in the first place. I'm curious, what did you use to coat...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Wasn't today, but dropped the old X off at the mechanic on Monday for some maintenance and an inspection to make sure it's ready to go for the ID BDR in a bit over a month. I'm happy to report that mechanically, she's good to go. Picking her up tomorrow, and ordering new serpentine belts, and...

    Reaver's DIY adventure box!

Got some stuff done on the trailer today. New tires are on: I also got the overhead kitchen light and a mounting bar made up. The only thing now that I HAVE to get done is build a new fridge slide. I'm hoping to also build a cargo basket for in front of the tent. We'll see if I have...
