    4 Wheel Parts experience

You being new to the hobby and with a new Toyota would be much better off using specialty Toyota aftermarket vendors. I have three that I use and none have ever filled me with BS. They have assisted me in research, sold me what I wanted/needed and unlike a lot of the "jeep" aftermarket vendors...

Best Bang for Buck Overland Rig

I'm taken aback that a jeep would be chosen because of "aftermarket" support/availability. I had a jeep. and there was plenty of aftermarket support, in fact way too many aftermarket choices. After researching and eliminating all the junk it boils down to 3 or 4 companies offering well built...

Lessons from a guy who couldn't wait...

Nice rig & welcome to this outstanding hobby of ours. I really like your signature. Undercarriage Armor is OK but not the best place to start. My rig, with over 280,000 miles has been all over the country on all kinds of trails, black, blue, green, etc etc and the only underbody protection I...

    rear storage drawer system build

I like it. I used sliders on my trailer drawers as the trailer does not have a tail gate to slide them out upon. It's too bad that jeep hasn't offered up a tailgate as an option.

    rear storage drawer system build

I am not a carpenter, however I do have a tiny bit of experience with measuring and cutting things. So, occasionally I do build things. As with most all our gear we subscribe to the "keep it simple stupid" methodology, which is a safe bet that we choose utilitarian function over form...

    Interior Accessories

The quick fists are bolted to the deck holding a Kidde Auto/Marine extinguisher #21008634N I've since moved the extinguisher to a more convenient location mounted on the framework I built for the freezer. Now it sits upright and very easy to get to inside the driver side passenger door.

    Tire suggestions?

Not sure what a GC Overland is but I have learned from many drivers that BFG and General Motors vehicles do not mix well. I don't run KMs simply because of noise and MPG factors.

    Tire suggestions?

Tires are always an interesting topic. I've spent a good portion of the past 25 years researching tires, cost, and happiness/cool factor, reputation, and did I mention cost? So, to the OP, here are my results using 50,000 miles as an average. Cost: 1250 for a set of 5 BFG KOs. I kept them...

    Interior Accessories

My two favorite interior upgrades? My homebuilt stowage/drawer system. And removing the stock console and replacing it with an inexpensive cup holder/tray thingy and an Engle MD14.

so then, all I need to do is be sure that my images are large enough to "fulfill" the 300 ppi request as most of my images do that easily as they are larger than the 4320 x 3240 size. Thanks.

    Photography

Moak is confused and hopefully someone can un-confuse me. My images are all shot in either J-peg or RAW on my Sony A-65. In order to submit photos to most all publications they are asking for at least 300 PPI. My photo app on my mac is only reproducing at 72 DPI My image sizes vary widely...

    Vehicle shopping today

I'd be remiss if I didn't give credit where credit is due.. The 04 Rubicon was the 2nd most reliable and trustworthy vehicle I've ever owned through 120,000 miles.. 2nd most reliable only because the front axle universals needed replacing every 50k miles, or so, and all the suspension bushings...

    Vehicle shopping today

The Chrysler curmudgeon speaks.. My son in law just very recently traded in his less than a 2 year old Grand Cherokee. He was lured in with all the bling and gizmology. At first everything worked really well, then? The rig was in the shop for warranty work more than it was being driven...

    exploring the yukon and alaska

There is a very easy solution to having a very sick jeep. One word-- Toyota. :) I got rid of mine before it became sick.

Ground, Cot or Air Mattress: Make and model please.

Over the years we made a couple of mistakes with cots. #1, the traditional inexpensive folding cot. Around $50. 8 0r 9 lbs. Very difficult to pack in. Not very comfortable. Not long enough for my 6' frame. Thankfully the seams began ripping apart after only 2 seasons. #2 We decided to...

    exploring the yukon and alaska

I'm back. As our 450 has over 280,ooo miles on it the trip is being postponed until we swap in a new engine, refresh the transmission, tear down, inspect and rebuild where necessary the entire driveline. It may still happen in 2019. but no later than 2020. As the rig is now, I've no fear of...

    Farm Jack

I used to think hi-lift jacks were for posers. I grew up on a farm and still carry some odd ideas about city folk and what they think they need when they are out and about. Thankfully, my wife insisted on us bringing it with us. I was like, "what for? we've never used it!" I rigged up a...

    Tire balancing

About 20 years ago beads were experimented with in the trucking industry. If beads in tires worked as advertised, every fleet truck, nationwide would be using them. Using beads is not cost beneficial. Quality Steer tires on big trucks last about 150,000 miles. Drive tires can last twice...
