    Air down kit?

I've heard of guys leaving them on-- yikes.. I guess some folks do need to take a beginner 4x4 driver training course..

    Air down kit?

That is a very nice kit. I wish it existed when I purchased my Stauns which I'll be using forever. I set them up a decade ago and they still deflate down to 16 lbs perfectly. I have the ARB quick deflator that I recieved as a gift for a magazine subscription. Maybe it's just me, but I find it...

The Great "daily driver" Debate... Help me out OB Family!

I'm sort of in the same spot and am seriously considering a small pick up truck. In your case a strong bull bar is needed to fend off wildlife, in my case I'm simply fending off other drivers and normal road hazards. My vote is for the 2wd pick up.

OB Approved Tips and Tricks to buying an Overland Rig

My son in law just got the "Trail" edition 4runner. It was a several thousand less than the TRD because the Trail doesn't have a lot of fancy stuff. It does have lockers, and it does have very low gearing. I am quite impressed with the vehicle and if in the market I wouldn't even consider the...

Hi Steve, Just curious, how did your trip go? I was very concerned for you getting all the way from Airport to as I recall, a very long way off... Lemme know man. Thanks, Don

southern utah family trip planning advise/guidance

We just had my two grandsons out on the WRT for three nights / 4 days, then down into the Needles for two nights. The boys are 10 and 12. Their handheld devices were forgotten, they played, free of the suburban children's rules of the rat race, they played. Hide and seek, tag, cowboys and...

I need a secret hiding spot near LA...help!

wow, this map brings me back to my days of wheeling and hiking up the Big Tujunga Canyon back in the mid 70s and our occasional trips up to Big Bear, out through Silverado Canyon or out into the Mojave Desert. Even back then I would have never left a basecamp unattended anywhere near the Los...

    Awnings

We used tarps for years quite effectively, and finally broke down and got ourselves a Frontrunner awning. For us, it is used for two things, primarily, shade in the desert ( tough to set up a tarp without any trees ), However, this past week we did pull it out over top of our "kitchen in a...

Who's stock, and not planning to gear up?

Isn't that the truth. They did the same thing back in the 90s with the 80 series. Small tires, soft cushy ride, lots of bling.

OB Approved CO2 vs. Air Compressors

Having kept track of this post I have given the C02 some thought. There must be a way to mount my entire kit. Otherwise, what would be the sense in it?

    What boots do members wear

Interesting topic : For decades I swore by my Redwing Irish Setters. My first pair, because oof my stupidity lasted only 5 years, the second pair lasted 21 years and were re-soled at least twice that I recall. This time around though I discovered how much lighter the current generation of...

    Tetons

that is good Great advice. I love having conversations with rangers and do so often as we are planning our trips. However, I will have to make the call well after their busy season, when they have the time to engage in an extended conversation.

    RTT Back to Ground Tent

Agreed X 2.. The RTT fad will soon pass here in the US and the used market will be flooded. Alucab is a great alternative to ground tent, however it is very expensive. When we basecamp we use our Oztent FX25. It is our home away from home. When we are on the move, we used to use our...

Looking for fenders for my trailer

I found some 1/8" diamond plate at work in the shop. I purchased the plate and my welder cut them, formed them then I mounted them as high as necessary. All for way less than 50 bucks.. they are very handy being flat. I then added the mudflaps from scrap flaps found along the highway..

    Sleeping Bags

Interesting. There seems to be two schools of thought on the "how to stay warm" issue. Once in town I gave BA a call and it was explained to me, by their service rep, that wearing thermal long johns prevents your body from warming up the bag. While backpacking the Painted Desert in 20 degree...

    Home made Solar Panel Rack

I wouldn't give it a thought either except I did drive an 18 wheeler as a career and used to get stone chips up high on the windshield all the time.. a new windshield was an annual event.
