I must be getting old as I've never thought of the 5 on 5 1/2 lug pattern being rare. It's what I'm running on my Willys and trailer. My advice is to run the same tires, wheels and lug pattern as your tow vehicle.

Keep in mind that the wires are 16 gauge and won't take much of a load.

Since you want to tow and off-road on very rough and rocky roads it seems to me there is only one choice an "E" rated tire. They will work much better than the "C" rated tires for towing and will live longer on the roads you want to off road on.

Sounds like you're off to a good start with the equipment you've added. Get a spare to match the tires on your Jeep and go try it out. A little common sense and patience you should be just fine on the moderate trails you want to run. Before you hit the trails practice winching on a nice stress...

I have a 96 F-350 with 310,000 miles on it, it's got the 7.3 Powerstroke in it. I've had great luck with small block, Chevys, the 305 in my Willys had 175,000 on it when I pulled it and sold it to a buddy. He's put another 45,000 on it since he got it.

For me SOS for breakfast at least once, camp made chili, elk or venison burgers and steaks with potatoes. I enjoy making everything from scratch in camp and relaxing while it cooks.

I wouldn't use glass lids but that's just me. I have a couple of metal "fits all" style lids that I've used for decades.
