Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
It was just a little dig at Monster Truck Shows and their influence on Overlanding and Offroad vehicles. Big capable rigs are super cool but perform way better empty...whereas a good reliable overland vehicle is more about comfort and the destinations.
Anyways...it was an early post...maybe I...
wow...that was a lot take in. Had to come up for air...the one and only time I wish I had a snorkel. Anyways my $0.02 is overlanding is all about the adventure but so often is influenced by our younger Thunder Under the Dome memories.
I reckon the answer would be no...unfortunately. Everything is engineered to withstand a percentage of overstress, but nothing we do to our vehicles actually increase strength to the more vulnerable items DintDobbs mentions above...and I could easily add a dozen more. Consider for a moment the...
Been following this thread and no one has mentioned Gross Vehicle Weight...maybe I'm being too serious. But if you consider all the cool after market extras...rtt...rack...oversized tires...lift kits...big bumpers...winches...extra batteries...ect. This really starts to interfere with the...
Grew up in B.C. and fly fishing came into my life at an early age. Couldn't even begin to count the times I've spent on coastal beaches tossing my favorite muddler pattern or salmon streamers in bad weather. But enticing a large searun cutthroat was always King. Mid 80's I decided to kayak from...
While perusing a 2nd hand website I came across a St. Croix 9' 9wt...thought it's been a while since I threw some line but what the heck!
Things just kinda snowballed from there...chest waders...boots and vest. Now I'm back in the game and looking for cold water.
Speaking of jumping...solar panels and a separate house battery. Have killed my vehicle battery a few times and recharged with solar which has been a godsend. Especially with all those electronics ;-)
hey guys...it's a small company in Xi'an...think Terracotta Warriors. Found them when I was looking to build a custom track frame some years ago. Apparently a lot of titanium is produced up there and are several OEM companies that support the industry.
Anyways...when it came to getting a...
Thread revived!
Gravel bikes rock! Bridges so many different types of surfaces and terrain...no wonder it's becoming so popular.
Regarding "racks" and overlanding...we're using Yakima's tire mounted rack...fits both our bikes and keeps them high and outta harms way.
Not surprised it has you a little confused...haha
It's a Chinese Baic BJ40L...quite an interesting vehicle...Saab turbo 2.3L motor...Aisin tranny and a Borgwarner transfercase. Quite popular over here.
Next month we head out for 6 months around northwest China. Stay warm and continue your...
We're in the midst of prepping for a 6 month tour so this has been a great read and has definitely added some items to our list...haha
Those dang rear seats! Laws prohibit removal and last year we almost had our vehicle impounded because of it...so unfortunately they're staying in this time...
