Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
I named mine Quicksilver for two reasons: One (and somewhat on the nose), is because it's silver and it's quick. And two, quicksilver is liquid mercury and the atomic symbol for mercury (Hg) is kind of an abbreviated approximation of my last name.
I thought I'd throw this up as a poll, just to try it. Never posted a poll before.
My wife had an idea the other day that I really like. In addition to the Overland Bound banner sticker that we already have, how about an Adventure Is Necessary banner sticker? Would there be any interest in...
Which is too bad, really. I understand forums aren't everyone's cup of tea, and people have to be a part of the community in their own way, but I think this is where the sense of community is strongest. I lurked in the forums as an unregistered visitor for a couple of months, just to kind of...
I haven't done it yet, but my to-do list includes setting up both battery and fuel cut-offs. My truck prior to this one was stolen last year, so this is something I'm very conscious of.
Just a standard battery? I was worried that I would drain the vehicle battery, so I bought a deep cycle and built something similar to this. While heavy, it's portable, so I can use it in a tent as well, and not be limited to sleeping in the truck.
Picked up one of these for making s'mores. Turned out to be one of those things that's a great idea on paper, but not so much in the real world. Promptly threw it in the trash when I got home.
I've never taken a long enough trip that I needed to do any of that on the trail. I do all of that when I get home. But if I were to go on an extended trip like that, I would likely do something similar to what I did when I went to Iraq. I set up a folder for each month. I didn't take so...
I don't have one, but I was at an event recently at which another OB member had one. Seemed sturdy enough, and certainly held up just fine for the days activities. I'd like to get one, but as you mentioned, the price is a bit steep.
I'm hoping that an announcement of some sort will be made when the 10,000th member is assigned his/her badge. We've nearly doubled in 6 months, and t's a huge milestone.
Yup. I have a Plano box for the roof that's just for trash. We use yard bags with the cinch ties, and even though we don't generate a lot of trash ourselves, we can usually fill a bag in a couple of days between our own stuff and what we find.
