Not able to make that long a trip in March. But normally I can do longer trips including weekdays without much trouble. Been to both spots, you'll have fun.

Hi Chris- I've been on the main route thru the area. Are there any side trails you would recommend that aren't very brushy?

Hi Mike- Like the idea of DV and Mojave. How many days are you thinking of doing each?

Expect cold weather at night. Did this trip in early November for 3 nights, could have used 4. Doing 20 to 30 miles a day seems a little short. Be sure to take a lot of side trails. You'll have to leave the preserve to gas up so plan on that.

Have you ever taken any off road trails around Kingman/Sedona/Grand Canyon area? Thinking of doing a 5 day trip though that area next year?

Greetings from Marin. If your around Joshua Tree I would try and take Pinkman Canyon trail. If your near Mojave Preserve take the side road to Cinder Cones and Lava beds.

TGIF Justin- Sounds like a plan. I have a book that has recommended some trails around Downieville but have never been in the area yet. Your recommendations sound good. Lets plan to nail a date down in the spring once the snow is gone. -J

Sounds good Justin. Coming from the Bay Area so I'll probably want to run trails for at least two days. I would plan things around SP run. If you wanted to join me for another day or just do SP both work for me. I have a lot of vacation time so could also do weekdays if your available. -J
