Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Finally made the decision to regear. The 373’s just weren’t cutting it, especially with all the extra weight in the rear, and when pulling the trailer.
Thought long and hard between 456’s and 488’s. Decided to go with Yukon 488’s, and so far, no regrets. Still in the break-in period but can...
Took my 2 yr old nephew and brother camping recently. My nephew loved sleeping in the Tepui, or what he kept calling the “fort”!
Wish I would have grabbed a pic of him in the tent but totally forgot. We were local so had my parents come down to eat with us after grilling on the skottle. My...
Both of those are extremely useful! It does take a bit of work to get the attic set up correctly, but once you do it’s probably the most useful addition to the Jeep. I keep my sleeping bags, down jackets, and rain wear up there full time.
If it’s not lining up correctly you may want to call...
Yep, absolutely worth it. Like many others on here, I've used a few other set ups for cooking, and the large open area of the skottle makes it so much easier to prepare more food, and different types of food, all at the same time. You will not regret it.
From the DC area you're looking at about 1-1.5 hrs to get into National Forest, with legal OHV trails and dispersed camping, and some beautiful country!
I just have the basic Thule gutter feet, Thule square load bars, then just drilled the awning mounts through the load bars in order to attach the awning. My entire way of mounting the awning was based on an exact position I needed height wise for the awning to clear my doors, but also be low...
@Lazy Turtle , that combo sounds about right based on tire size and the weight. I'm in the same situation as you, and just made an appointment today to go from 3.73 to 4.88 in my 2016 non Rubi JKU. It sounds like I'm pulling a lighter trailer than you, probably coming in somewhere around...
Since a few others have offered an alternative trailer option, and without trying to derail the OP's thread, I'll just at least throw out the option of the Morris Mule trailers, built in Aniston, Alabama by Morris Burt. Having my trailer built by Morris was one of the best purchasing...
It's amazing at how much braking gets impacted by all of that extra weight. I've been thinking the same thing recently as well....more braking power would be nice.
Did you do the regular HD springs in the rear or the optional Extra HD's?
Ok, got it. So it sounds like you got it installed at this point. That clearance issue you mention is definitely a common problem with certain rack's. Not much you can do about it other than to get someone with small hands to do it!:grinning:
Do you plan on leaving it installed all the time...
We’ll probably need a bit more info from you to help.
What kind of roof top tent do you have? Make and model?
What rack system on top of your Jeep are you trying to install it on?
Any pics of the specific problems you’re encountering?
