  • Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

Driving off a High Lift Jack

I guess I've never heard of 'driving off' a hi-lift. That maybe could only be done if the jack were lifting the side of the vehicle and I can't imagine the scenario when that would be the best choice. However, when you lift a vehicle then "tip it over" to a more advantageous spot for better...

    The Rezvani Tank

For my Overlanding money, and as soon as I hit that Lottery, I'd rather have something a little more conventional... like this: GlobalXvehicle Seriously, this is getting out of hand.

    Grand Tetons/ Jackson Hole

@Dana Ramos I know you can never predict the weather, especially there, but when do you think is a good time to plan a Spring trip to hit that area? Is end of May too soon? I've spent too long in a southern climate, I need a reality check in planning a trip up there. I know Spring is...

Convoy Comms and Mode Standardization for Overland travel?

As previously mentioned, this topic is discussed elsewhere, but it's a good topic and one that seems to be a point of almost contention on every trail run I've been on. I'm one of those guys with Ham, CB, FRS that ends up being the cross-communication hub and it sucks because I rely on Ham as a...

    Next phase: Expedition Trailer

Another couple of smaller mods took me the rest of today. I used a Front Runner faucet that I got through Anchor Mountain Overland because it's just the coolest faucet. The handle is a quarter-turn type, it locks and is meant to be mounted like this. After finding the perfect spot for that...

    Next phase: Expedition Trailer

As much as I would have liked to have been on a trail this weekend, circumstances did not allow, so the next best thing is to mod! Today's project turned out to be mounting the farm jack [cheap hi-lift] on the trailer. I can't tell you how hard it was for me to drill holes in a brand new...

    Our Team Site Is Live!

Looks like a nice site, good luck with it and hope to run across you at some point. I have plans for Colorado in the late Spring / summer 2018, wouldn't mind picking your brain for some good places... Dan.

    Newbie from Michigan

Do you follow "Bold Overland" on InstaGram? They just recently had a trip through the UP, might have some information on there you could use.

Decked for Tacoma, Colorado and other mid-sizes trucks

@mtnhabitoverland on here is one of the reps out here for the Decked systems. Looks pretty cool for small trucks, I'd like to see them in person.

    Badged

Anyway... welcome @Trekkieusn to the forums! Nice Subie, hope you can find some awesome trails and adventures with that one! It's cool that Subaru does that badge thing. It engenders owners to their car. More carmakers should catch on to that. Brand loyalty is important. Dan.

    Smittybilt Overland Trailer

@professorkx that Jack mod thing for storage is pretty genius! I gotta think up a good storage method for my jacks, I have three and I just put them in my tongue box and on rough roads, I'm sure they'll do damage to anything else in there... hmmm.

    Next phase: Expedition Trailer

After all those mods, I took it out for its maiden voyage to OTG17 last weekend. Campground camping but a good chance to find out what's working and what I still need to do. Dan Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using OB Talk mobile app

    Next phase: Expedition Trailer

A couple other mods I've done, not too big but useful. Mounted my Waterport on the driver side fender. A 5 gallon water can next to the spare in the front. And filed under stupid simple but useful, levels to make sure I don't roll to the downhill side of the bed... Dan PS: Not sure why...

    Next phase: Expedition Trailer

So, I've done a few mods, thought I'd share them here to show some progress on my build. I needed to find a spot for the propane bottle, the rear fender near my kitchen at my tailgate seemed the best choice. I fabbed up a holder in the shop. Found the right spot. ...painted and mounted...

    Transmission Coolers

Haha, I developed an exhaust leak up at OTG also, got worse as I traveled home. I'll just get under there and weld it up when I get a chance. Exhaust leaks can either be simple or expensive. They're usually expensive. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using OB Talk mobile app

    Otto the Adventure Trailer Build

Nice build! Fenders and a 3-axis hitch would also be high on my priority list. Looks like it will be very robust on trails.
