    Making Money with Overland Photography

I am looking at kicking up to a 50gig pixel Nikon from my 24gig pixel. It will require a whole new suite of lenses.

    Photography

Nothing fancy but here are some pix of my solo run Friday. It was 107 at the bottom and 102 at Crown King, 7200ft elevation My gopro mounted on the windshield crapped out due to the heat. I started the trail just north of Phoenix at Lake Pleasant and and wound up the mountains for over 70...

    Orienteering by hand?

Spoken by someone who surely has years of experience (sic). I worked as a surveyor and never saw any inaccuracy with a compass that had a bubble. If you have to be within one degree, I want to hear how you compensate for local magnetic fields such as minerals in the rock, or a wrist watch, or...

    Orienteering by hand?

Why is everybody worried about a bubble. I has no bearing in the operation.

General Observations about the influx of people to the outdoor world

My frustrations lie in people that think if they buy all the cool stuff that they immediately become an expert. In rock crawling for instance, they argue that if you don't have 42" tires you are a nobody. Hell I ran all the hardest trails in Colorado back in the day on 31's whey they were...

Just got settled in Prescott AZ and want to get out and do some trails and overnight trips.

I just got settled in Prescott Arizona and want to start getting out and doing Arizona and possibly southern Utah excursions. I get a three day weekend every other weekend. I like to pull my trailer and can drop it at a base camp to explore or if it is a moderate trail, pull it along. I am...

    Adventury Teardrop Build

Nice craftsmanship. Nothing like the pride when someone asks where you bought it.

Old to Camping New to Overlanding

Welcome from Colorado / Arizona. Similar backgrounds and age. City girl wife got tired of sleeping on the ground, hence the teardrop trailer.

    Arizona - Needing some ideas

I am going to be in Prescott for 6-8 months and would be interested in running this. Anybody interested in camping along the way?

Anybody in the Prescott, AZ area I want to rent a room for 6-8 months?

I am an aerospace engineer who does contract work all over the country. My home is in Northern Colorado but I just got a 6-8 month contract in Prescott, AZ. I am married (46 years), but will be by myself. I am a non-smoker. I would like to have at least minimal access to a kitchen, and don't...

Sometimes I think we've gone too far.

I like it the simpler the better, but I married a city girl and my old bones don't like sleeping on the cold ground. I enjoy the designing and fabricating when I can't get away.

    Need a good axe!

Any axe is quickly useless without a good file and a finishing whetstone, and knowing how to use it. Personally I carry one I got at HF. I tecommend a composite handle. Lack of expertise leads to a lot of cracked axe handles.
