I have had my Engle MT45 Fridge since 2006 and it has been on 99% of the time. We started our trip of a lifetime back in the summer of 2018 and it has been on 100% of the time in freezer mode since then, still works great.
What is the best thing you bought for Overlanding? Vehicle and Vehicle parts (Tires, suspension, bumpers etc.) does not count.
For me it is the Engle MT45 Fridge I bought in 2007 and the drawer system I built.
The only reason Electric cars are even being considered is because of Government regulations forcing manufacturers to make engines using alternative fuels. If those regulations did not exist not many automotive manufacturers would be making electric cars. Electricity will cost more than gas...
If you come as far west as CA, once you cross the CA border gas will instantly increase at least $1.10 more than all the states that surrounding CA due to extra taxes.
I need to get a new satellite messenger having not renewed my spot. I am researching between the Garmin Inreach, Zoleo or the Garmin Montana 700i which has the Inreach built in. Maybe a new easy to setup tent as well.
I have been car camping, fishing, shooting, hiking, exploring, dirt biking and dune bugging all my life. Here is a picture of us Camping\Dirtbiking\Dune Bugging near Ensenada Mexico in the 60s. Back then we we had a Ford Station wagon and a BMW Dune Buggy. The 2nd pic is my 1982 Toyota Truck I...
I don't think this is my most spectacular, but it is one of my favorites and wish I had taken more. Saw a whole heard of Bison, about 90 of them jump over this fence in GTNP.

Forums are slowly making a comeback, can't find anything on the FakeBook groups after a week. On forums you can do extensive search to find relevant and old information.
On my RV, I use 4 HF 1.5 watt solar panels connected to a Battery Tender 5-45W Automatic Solar Controller. The Solar Panels just sit on the dash. I am going to be setting up something similar to my 4Runner now that is has to be parked outside, currently looking for a compact 20 watt solar panel...
I also recommend going with HREW, I used that for bumpers and sliders and never had an issue. One thing to note, is when bending HREW, you want to have the welded seam on the inside of the bend.
I am older, so I don't like using apps on my phone due to bad eye sight, so I have not downloaded the overland bound app yet. Maybe I will try it on my tablet some day.
I never heard of the Badge of Honor Trails until your post so I looked it up, I guess it is a Jeep Thang :-) (I drive a Toyota). I have done all the ones in CA except for the Dusy Ershim.
I map all of my routes on Google for highways and Garmin Bascamp for off-road. You could also use an app...
It was not an overlanding trip, but we traveled with an 2WD F150 truck and a 28 foot Travel trailer. Not much overlanding, but we did take the truck on some trails in Moab and the San Juan's that I had done previously in our 4Runners. I had pictures on Google but they ended that service, So I am...
