    Any Fellow Michigander?

Sorry it took so long. As far as finding dedicated ORV routes and trails, there are some apps and some websites that publish this info in a user friendly way, though all of it is free public info. I use GAIA and onX offroad, the latter is a subscription based service with both mobile device...

    Any Fellow Michigander?

Welcome! Metro Detroiter here. Can I assume you are looking for jeep/4x4 trails and not ATV/ SxS tails? For most of the public access trails in state and natl forest lands you have to get north if M20/Muskegon latitude. There may be others closer to Marshall. I can post some useful links...

    Mountain biking

I've trimmed my fleet down to 3 and this is my only MTB currently. It's so good that I really don't mind having sold the FS bike. A few more pics at the link below. 2018 Salsa Timberjack Ti Build Currently it has a Shimano XT 12spd drivetrain and some Vittoria Aggaro 29x2.6 tires on it...

    Any Fellow Michigander?

Another Waterford OB member here. More members in the SE area than I would have guessed. Wife and I are hoping to head up to Drummond Island late summer/early fall as long as this covid stuff doesn't get out of hand again, but before that I would like to do some shakedown camping with my...

    Michigan Visit

Not much without heading north it seems. In Waterford, myself, if anyone is around and wanting to chat or whatever. Just getting into this stuff and building my vehicle is a work in progress. Hoping to head to the UP or Northern LP/Islands late summer/fall.

Who carrys a firearm with them while camping?

I've only bought in store once at REI and I don't remember doing any of that. The couple other online purchases have been on an account so I suppose they have some of that info. Maybe a state thing?

What if you refuse? Why not just fill in bogus info if privacy or other concern?

Who carrys a firearm with them while camping?

That info makes me think bear spray is the best thing to carry and leaving the firearms at home is the choice to make for the geographic areas I plan to travel. Hmmmm.... Things to consider. Thanks for the reply!

Who carrys a firearm with them while camping?

I appreciate the on topic and constructive reply. All of these opinions in this thread are really not of any use except to the people that already agree with them, which is a waste of time. So, I don't have a shotgun and the only high powered weapon I own is a K31, which while a cool rifle...

Who carrys a firearm with them while camping?

Well, this thread went to shit almost immediately. How about ammo types for wildlife defense? Pretty much the same strategy as for human defense? When remote I may carry a .40SW as my 9mm seems like a less ideal caliber for the potential animal I may need to defend from. They both carry 14+1...

Tire width for a daily overland rig (JGC WK2)

Post a pic when you get them mounted. I'd like to see those monsters on a 20" wheel!

Tire width for a daily overland rig (JGC WK2)

Considering on road handling and manners and then choosing a M/T tire seems to be counter productive. I'm surprised that a M/T tire is even available in a 295/55. Is a mud tire a requirement and you are just trying to find one that sits the daily driving role? I would think that whatever...

Hi, Gary. Thanks for the welcome. Waterford is just West of Pontiac in the northwest Detroit metro area. Right on the edge of where the city turns into the sticks. I spend some time on the west side of the state regularly and really enjoy the north west part of the state.

Hello. New to overland camping but a vet camper/hiker and married to a formally educated Naturalist/Park Ranger so hopefully this is just an extension of our comfort zone. Our goal is to take short (1-ish week trips) in the short term and longer adventures at some point in the future. I hope...
