Took some serious trail crawling and acquired some pinstripes to get here, but it sure was nice.
After midnight a whole line a T-Storms came over for hours. Was surreal to watch and be a part of.

Picture is from Glacial Hills near Bellaire on Sunday. Was up in that area for the weekend and took advantage of the awesome weather to do some mountain bike trail riding.
Setup camp near the Boardman River between Kalkaska and TC.
Where in Detroit are you? Waterford, here.
Where have...
I went up to Kalkaska area for the annual Iceman Cometh Bike Race and made a long weekend out of it. This picture is from the day after the race, on another trail (Glacial Hills). The weather couldn't have been better this weekend! Daytime temps were 55-60F and nights were right at freezing...
Sorry to hear about your loss. Maybe as time goes by you will regain some of your desire to ride again. Bike tech and overall design has come further since 2013 to now than maybe it has since the inception of MTB to 2013! If you get back into it, try out something newer, like 2019+ and see...
Only managed ~2000 miles of singetrack this year so far and its not looking good for breaking the 2500mile goal I had set. But, winter is arriving and soon it will be snow rides and ice beards!
Good to hear. I'd enjoy coming down for a trip. I won't be able to until after the new year at the least, probably more like March. Work stuff. I still want to get down to the Red River Gorge area, too. If you are planning anything for next spring or later and have room for another vehicle...
Heading to Kalkaska area this weekend for the annual Iceman bike race to support a couple friends and make a weekend of exploring out of it. Figured I would drop a line and see if anyone was going to be around or had the freedom to make a last minute plan. I have a bunch of potential sites...
John,
How's the life and how's the truck? You enjoying those 285's? I'm heading up to Kalkaska area tomorrow and came on here to see if anything was going on around there, figured I would drop you a line while I am here.
I don't have any advice about mounting the antenna inside or not but I am interested in the problems and "mistakes" you made with the Midland and Rugged Radios units and why/how the Wouxun helped? Thanks!
Do some research on fitting 35" tires on that vehicle. It may require significant modifications to the suspension, wheel well, body mounts, etc. It will definitely hurt mpg and driveability.
Another thing to consider, that many overlook and then regret or just dislike the tire without understanding why it wasn't the right choice, is what you need from a tire. If you plan to do high-speed desert running on a light weight midsize truck you will want a much different tire than someone...
What vehicle? How much bigger tire? The odo/speedo will be off, in many vehicles that can be adjusted by editing the ECU/ECM/TCM calibration and some vehicles may have aftermarket modules available that can be plugged in to compensate and correct the speed/odo but it's worth understanding how...
Where are you moving from?
It doesn't take too much to get into some descent forest if you head north from Lansing. Lots of places to explore and enjoy in the Huron-Manistee.
How's everyone enjoying the winter? I just had one of those great winter rides where I didn't want to stop. Studs on the ice don't hurt the fun, either! Happy 2021
Welcome! I have spent some time in the Manistee Forest over your way and had a bunch of fun the the state forest areas west of Midland. We have plans to get up to the NW part of the state to explore starting this spring.
Is your FB group a statewide group? Does it organize and plan group...
