"Off Roading" in the CR-V. Can't even get up a little bump without bottoming out lol.

    Nature Photos

Took this in Yosemite National Park during one of the snowier days this past winter. This would have been sometime in early January if memory serves me right. The 41 and 120 were both closed all day, as was the 140 for about an hour which basically allowed me to have the entire Valley to myself.

Took this during a trip to Montana de Oro State Park in Los Osos, CA.

    Roof Tent Weight Capacity?

I talked with one of the guys over at Equipt and they said the Eezi-Awn 1400 is rated at around 1600lbs. I think I'd rather sleep on the ground for that $3,600 price lol.

    Roof Tent Weight Capacity?

Was wondering what the weight capacity for the roof tents are. I don't have anything in mind specifically as far as brands go, but I assume there is a set limit of some sort for the roof? I've read various reports online saying 300lbs to 1000+, but couldn't find what determined this. I assume...

    Minimum Ground Clearance?

I've noticed that about them. Have seen some 2016 and 15's, depending on color, being sold for almost $10K more than the 2017 brand new. Insane. Realistically I probably won't be able to afford one until next June, not that I wouldn't expect prices to drop new or used, but I'll have to wait and...

    Minimum Ground Clearance?

Awesome Mike. Good to know it can be done in stock. I might want to do a 2" lift or something at some point, just not sure about when. Obviously that would only help further. Really still trying to decide between the Pro or the KDSS. Can someone give me anymore of a breakdown from what...

    Minimum Ground Clearance?

The thing I was liking about the TRD Pro was the higher is sat, and from what I read could be raised 2" by just doing the Toytec Lift (which is cheaper than standard kits due to it already using the shocks on the Pro). The obvious special TRD Pro stuff really didn't matter to me, I was just...

    Minimum Ground Clearance?

Thanks for the help so far everyone. I definitely knew about the tires thankfully. As far as lockers go, is that even possible in the 4Runner? Is there some aftermarket way to have that done? Not that I would be doing that anytime soon, but I'm curious if that's even an option, or if you have to...

Old Coulterville Road to Yosemite (Foresta)?

No problem, hope you enjoy it. As it said, winter months it'll be closed, and if it's anything like the Fish Camp to Wawona route (which it looks like), you can expect those dirt areas to be like ice. I'm just hoping the fire there a few years ago hasn't closed it off completely, which is my...

    Minimum Ground Clearance?

For those of you who have seen my posts, I own a CR-V which obviously keeps me very limited on backroads. As a photographer I travel a lot, especially with work I do for the NPS, so I've been looking into buying a Toyota 4Runner for the space, but also offroad capabilities. I have thought about...

Old Coulterville Road to Yosemite (Foresta)?

Hopefully this is the right section to post this in. Kept switching back and forth between here and the Overland Trip Planning, but being this is more of a two hour drive rather than a multi day trip, I figure this might be the better section. With that said, has anyone done this route before...

Went out for a little drive down some backroads yesterday. Nothing serious, a few spots where there were rocks (problem for me in a CR-V but not you all). The good sections are still closed down due to deep mud and overgrown brush. Waiting for Big Meadows and other areas to open back up. Can go...

    Snorkel Legality In California?

What are the laws on snorkels for California? I've been looking into them for when I buy my 4Runner, but from what I've read some people have had issues passing the visual smog test? Has anyone had this issue in California? Does it matter where you live? For instance in Virginia where I lived...

Thanks, I don't know how I missed it.

    Bear Country Camping?

What are the rules, if there are any, for the dispersed car camping everyone does when on their trips? I've seen quite a few people with coolers, candles, and other things with scents left out over night (or perhaps I'm just assuming this). In the Sierra Nevada you are supposed to have these in...

You can follow me at MaddoxPics. I shoot sports a lot for my job so expect a lot of sports photos over nature stuff, but I do shoot a lot of wildlife and landscape for the Park system, so I'll always have that. Can only do so much in the CR-V, but from time to time you might see a photo of it on...

You are probably right. Most of that is all National Forest up until that point, which then turns into National Park land. I know there are roads to certain meadows and horse areas back there. I haven't checked as I don't have the right vehicle for it, but I would assume there could be some OHV...

Sorry I didn't have much of an answer for you earlier, because honestly I don't know what the sign really means, though I do believe it is what you think. I've been down it numerous times, along with official rigs I've seen on this forum, and nobody has been bothered. When GPS originally came...
