Hey folks! Who'd be up for a radio day? We were talking about using a park in Salem and working to help folks get familiar with their radios and basic use then actually play with them some around the park just for some close proximity learning.
Maybe follow it up with some use around town while...
Maybe we need to get everyone together and look at everyone's radios. We've got a few new and aspiring hams in the group and it would be good to have a little training on use and etiquette.
Dual fuel is a misnomer anyways. They will all run on regular gas, it just wasn't a good idea when has was loaded. It will clog the generators a little faster because of the additives in regular gas so its recommended to run some straight white gas through it before you store it if you've run...
We'll have to see how things are going a little closer to time but as far as I know we're still looking at getting together for something in April. Anyone got any places or routes in the area they'd like to check out?
We're also wanting to do a weekend long trip to Flag Pole Knob and West...
That should be a 533 if I remember correctly. Those are NEAT little stoves. I've been keeping my eye out for one. I have the 400 with the folding feet on it but the 500 series on the lantern fount looks so cool. Great for a pot of coffee or to fry up a ribeye on the trail!!
It's not actually the pump check that's the issue, it's the seat of the control valve had trash in it and it wouldn't completely seal. If you didn't vent the tank you'd come back to a wet lantern and a really exciting time trying to relight it with the generator standing full of liquid fuel! O_O
All I know is I'm now wanting some!!
Replaced the generator in my beater 288a to get the leak fixed where it attaches to the valve. I also opened the valve while it was off and blew whatever trash was causing it to leak out so it doesn't constantly push fuel through after it's shut off when...
@Relic came out with us Sunday in his 2wd crew cab GMC and really got to see what it's capable of.
4wd is nice, but not always a must. I spent all day in 2wd also, including sliding sideways off the trail into the brush because of a nice muddy coating on a very off-camber section that there...
I've run the 2m/440 version (probably same antenna) for 3-4 years now. They are tough and I'm happy with mine. It looks more like a pretzel after each trip but for $20 I'm not heartbroken.
I never realized they had a paper map of the route. I know @witchdoctor_33 has ridden it and I've been wanting to check more of it out. It runs right by my house and there are a few parts of it I ride regularly just because they're close.
Did you get it off their website?
I've got a rough route worked out and I'm going to upload it to the RP if anyone wants to have it loaded. I don't know some of the roads which are the one's I was wanting to explore but most of what we're doing that I know is 2wd friendly and easy highway. See everyone in the morning!
I'm going to start a new meet-up and RP this week to try to get that taken care of. You'll have to subscribe to the new thread but you'll get a new invitation so it shouldn't be a big deal if you have messages notifications turned on.
Sorry for the issues guys. We're trying to get it fixed but...
