    Coleman Sickness..affliction...

I have a couple of the CL2 (288a) lanterns. One is my truck beater and the other is almost as nice as yours and doesn't come out to play that often because of how nice and original it is. Throw a cast iron pan over the generator of that white gas stove and she'll be burning a nice blue flame in...

    Coleman Sickness..affliction...

Those are gorgeous. I missed a shot at a Coleman desk lamp last year. Was waiting to make an offer and the antique mall it was at just closed up shop...

    Overlanding+Ham=Resurgence?

Jon has a few write-ups on APRS here but it is "automatic packet reporting system" and allows you to send text based messages radio to radio, emails, and even SMS messages from your radio. It also reports your position to other users as well as the internet where you can then review your track...

    Overlanding+Ham=Resurgence?

Oh yeah, I am also seeing more licensees thanks to overlanding. In fact both @witchdoctor_33 and @Adventr-X have both been licensed this year and we've been playing around on the air some. Jon (Adventr-X) popped for the FTM-400 and we played with APRS last weekend some. I think he got a kick out...

    Overlanding+Ham=Resurgence?

I run the local repeater on VFO A and APRS or the local simplex frequency on VFO B around town. I have both 520 and 460 set in all my radios though and run scan in the house and garage. I've run 460 on trail rides before but will run 520 when I'm out solo just to keep an ear out for a SOTA...

Look for a ground strap coming off the negative cable between that load detector and the engine or body and land it with that. There is a ground strap just below that sensor on my Xterra and that's where I have my radio ground.

    Cancelled Western Virginia Roanoke Meet-up

I was curious about how it was going to work out being on a holiday. I'm free either day so which ever works out for the most people is fine with me.

With enough cutting no doubt! I try to keep a few sections of the coax you get a truck stops on hand for emergencies and general use. Most of the black jacket stuff is good for HF jumpers and has aluminum shield you can't solder to. It's what I've stripped out in the past for a quick dipole if...

    Friday Night HAM Radio NET

2020-3-20 OB Echolink Net Control: Terry KT4OZ Topic: Rig Storage Solutions 1: KE8AYE Jason OH Likes to keep things compartmentalized. Have comms backpack to keep close with adapters and antennas in one place. Easy to pack and be ready to go. For larger items being organized is an issue...

    Northwest Ham Net

You're a ham, don't let something like no antenna keep you off the air. I've loaded bits of flag pole, stripped out coax, used pieces of old romex, heck some guys load the gutters on their house or just drop a random wire down the driveway!

Do you have coax with one end on it? Strip out about 19.5" of it, pull the center out of the braid where it comes out of the jacket and tape it to a broom handle. Bam! 1/4w dipole ready to rock!

    Cancelled Western Virginia Roanoke Meet-up

I'm good for the 11th and 12th as well. How many others will be good for that day? Want to make sure most everyone could be there! Post up what types of radios you have and anything you're interested in talking about.

Thanks Jon! I was on my phone when I posted that and didn't have a chance to search it out.

Unless you have an echolink repeater you have permissions to bring up the net local to you (which is more than welcome) the net operates on the Echolink server. You can access it with a PC or smartphone! There's a write-up in the coms section I believe about getting Echolink setup on your...

    Friday Night HAM Radio NET

Good morning everyone! Join me tomorrow evening on the Grits 'n Gravy for another hour or so of the fun time on the "air" known as The Overland Bound Net! Topic is not decided as of yet, but we should have a good time chewing the rag just the same. For those who aren't licensed, feel free to...

    Coleman Sickness..affliction...

If you followed the lighting instructions and it did that you probably need a new generator for it. They're readily available and easy to swap and will breathe new life into it. You could also have overfilled the tank and the start air valve was pulling in fuel instead of the air you pumped...

    Coleman Sickness..affliction...

When we made our shopping list Monday to try and shore up our stocks the wife said "grab a couple extra gallons of camp stove fuel". I love her! Also the reflector on the 200 is pretty nice around the yard.
