My guess is that it is a cooler, not a fridge. You can get 12v coolers pretty cheap but they don't have the cooling capabilities and/or thee efficient power usage that a compressor fridge provides. Good luck and I hope it is true - if not, you'll have something you can use for car trips to keep...

Agree with earlier input to start simple - ground tent. There are a bunch of super-easy to set up tents that are cabin-style and allow you to stand up. With a family, it would be the only way to go. I am not a big fan of RTT due to my 60-year old bladder having issues making it through the night...
