Hit my first GMRS repeater. A problem and question.

Like the title says, I was able to hit my first GMRS repeater today. It was a neat experience. My problem: I was told by the owner via email that I needed to change the duplex to +, which I did. However, after doing this, I was initially unable to reach the owner. I would go back to check the...

    2018 Impreza lift?

Start from the ground up. Upgrade your tires first. An all terrain tire is recommended. Because Subarus are low to the ground compared to a truck, you could get some undercarriage armor, it's not necessary but piece of mind. You could upgrade your springs if/ when you start carrying more gear...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Last week I put together a DIY 10lb Powertank with ARB hose and digital inflator and got it filled with CO2 (20psi to 35psi in 28 seconds on a 33"tire! ), also installed a BTECH 50x1 GMRS and collapsible NMO antenna, also added two 3- gallon Rotopax to the trailer. So now I can carry 12 gallons...

    Best tire for daily use?

General Grabber ATx. Three peak rating, stout sidewall, 50K mile warranty.... something BFG doesn't offer on their KO's.

Btech 50x1 & V1 GMRS Frequencies not connecting

Thanks for that info. Sooo much to learn and all so foriegn... but I'm catching on. So it sounds like my antennae is over kill. Go big or go home seems to be in my nature. We'll see if having that big thing on the front of my rig gets annoying or breaks. It's gain is 6db so maybe it isn't the...

Btech 50x1 & V1 GMRS Frequencies not connecting

There are an ok amount of GMRS repeaters in California, most are unlisted and good luck contacting the owner for PL tones. Are HAM's, by their nature, digital?

Btech 50x1 & V1 GMRS Frequencies not connecting

Good info, thanks. Yes, I purchased a Comet CA-2X4SR(NMO) antennae. Amazon.com: CA-2X4SRNMO CA2X4SRNMO CA-2X4SR(NMO) CA2XSR(NMO) Original Comet Dual Band VHF/UHF Mobile Antenna W/Fold-Over Hinge NMO Connector 140-160/435-465 MHz However, I'm realizing that the antennae possibly won't capture...

Btech 50x1 & V1 GMRS Frequencies not connecting

Hallelujah, that worked! Both connected on all GMRS channels. I can't thank you enough! Come out to California and drinks are on me! I have some more clarification questions since the manuals don't lay this out, and you're obviously knowledgeable. 1. I'll mainly be using the V1 for spotting or...

Btech 50x1 & V1 GMRS Frequencies not connecting

You're awesome. Thank you. So just to clarify, so I don't screw this up further, I'm going to start up chirp, connect my V1, save the current image, then remove it, then import your image into chirp and then upload that image to my radio?

Btech 50x1 & V1 GMRS Frequencies not connecting

Thanks for your input. So, these configs are from tech support at MyGMRS.com. I didn't even do these as entered. I did not save the stock image. Guess I screwed the pooch on that one. But there's got to be a stock download somewhere, right? If I were to delete some channels to get to 30...

Btech 50x1 & V1 GMRS Frequencies not connecting

Appreciate the Appreciate the response. I took photos of the CHIRP configs for both the 50x1 and V1. Let me know if anything stands out.

Btech 50x1 & V1 GMRS Frequencies not connecting

I will go back and use CHIRP to delete the current configs and then reload the FRS and GMRS freqs. As I type this I am able to pick up a conversation on GMRS 9, but I can't connect. Maybe they're using a PL code, I don't know. But I still can't connect my two units on an open GMRS freq, like...

Btech 50x1 & V1 GMRS Frequencies not connecting

Hello all, So I recently purchased and installed a Btech GMRS 50X1 in my rig and have a GMRS V1 for handheld. I have the correct USB cables and successfully used CHIRP to download the FRS and GMRS frequencies into both units. (Looking back I should have just kept the frequencies that came...

    Rancho Cordova OffRoadPark(?)

Yes. Because it's a state park, or state OHV facility, it has a fee of 10 or 12 dollars. Season pass was $50.

    Rancho Cordova OffRoadPark(?)

Prairie City OHV. It's ok. I bought a season's pass thinking I would want to use it a lot...I didn't. Went twice. Admittedly some of the terrain offered doesn't suit my style, so I was somewhat limited in what I actually wanted to wheel on. Give it a shot, you might like it. Or you might do it...

OB West Memorial Day Weekend Trip - Interest Check

Just an FYI regarding your proposed route, you may already know this, but the Bowman Lake spillway bridge MIGHT still be out in May. It's been out for,I think, three years almost. It's SUPPOSED to be rebuilt by end of this month, but who knows.

    Backcountry discovery routes

@1Louder Do you remember which year you did the IDBDR? Snow-wise this year is looking a lot like 2017. Here in California Tioga Pass (10,000') through Yosemite most likely won't be open till end of June, and that's with Cal-Trans clearing snow. Out in the forests snow will linger till July...

    Backcountry discovery routes

@Laud Any Intel on the IDBDR? Looking to do it late July north to south. It seems to be the most rig friendly BDR out of the bunch but the narrowness of the Lolo motorway portion is of concern. I did just read on the BDR website that the 50" bridge is open to all vehicles now, so that's good...
