Thanks to @Kaiser for the info! Tidied up the back end a little with a tow hook license plate mount. This makes the spare easier to get to, rather than having to get the plate and plate mount out of the way before getting to the tire.

They were. I pulled each wheel to make for more room. I think I'm about to remove them myself. While the oem splash guards don't give the protection these do, but I'm just not loving them aesthetics-wise. The mounting hardware/setup isn't as strong as it could be for something that hangs down...

Curious what plate mount you used @Kaiser ? Considering something different on mine as well, to avoid having to deal with the plate if and when I need to get to the spare.

    Portable Jump Pack?

A group 24 battery will fit as well (it's what I put in mine). Could have used one of these last week when the battery in the wife's car died.

Good looking car! :) I installed the softer of the two that came in the kit, the 65d one. The dealer isn't incorrect, really... the insert seems to be the only currently known way to decrease it. It's a quick, but awkward job...jack up the trans mount from the center bolt as high as you can get...

In search of: The Best Ground Tents

We like our Kodiak Canvas 10x14 VX quite a bit. Plenty of room for the three of us, even if the weather is bad and we need to stay inside. It’s heavy, and not super cheap, but it works well. The size was especially ideal when our daughter was still in her pack and play. I also like this one in...

Looking for GMRS vehicle antenna recommendations

Following this, as I'd be interested in knowing the same as well. There's some local groups in my area that run repeaters for GMRS, haven't joined yet as my radios currently serve as campsite/campground and just in and out of the car comms, but with something more powerful like the MXT400, might...

Rally Armor mud flaps and LP Aventure small bumper guard with plate added. Now time to decide on some lights, and determine how they'll be wired up.

Installed the CKE SSP Transmission Mount Insert (anti-"wobble" insert) the other day, very easy install. Definitely removed the "wobble" I used to get at 18-22mph. Also increased the exhaust sound in a good way, which the maker of the mount seems to think comes from the fact that the exhaust is...

...but it's a Subaru Outback?! Build thread.

Interesting. I got one of the "loaded" versions that he's now making that should be an easier fit, I think (no need to squeeze in with a vise if you pull the trans mount out). I need to get under there and see if my skid plate is in the way...if not, 10 minutes sounds easy enough. Just need to...

Interested to hear how you like the tires long term. I've got the trans mounts sitting here on my kitchen table, just waiting to go into the car. Need to find some free time to make that happen before our Thanksgiving road trip for sure.

ARB awning mount to Yakima LoadWarrior

I like seeing the good pics of the DIY ones, makes it much easier for others when they look for this info. I ended up with the Fourtreks mounts, and have been very pleased with them. They are about the cleanest, most out of the way mounting solution I've seen for this setup. I also like that...

    first aid kit recommendations

I'm a fan of Dark Angel Medical. Their Kit for Life program is great, and I can attest that they will indeed replace your kit if you use it in saving a life. Lots of other companies out there putting out good stuff too. Just make sure what wherever you get your supplies from that they're a...

    Fire starting magic!!

When it was just my wife and I, and I could spend time working on a fire, I'd do the bushcraft thing (vaseline cotton balls, ferro rod, some fatwood split down, split down the large logs, etc). Now that we take the munchkin, I'm using a firestarting log/block...get it burning, stack wood around...
