RSI says the limit for half bins are 25lbs. I plan to attach the wire grating for the dog's create to the ends of the half bins. That should allow them to carry a bit more weight since they will be supported on one end from the bed. I don't think I'll need to go over teh 25lbs limit, but it...
I like you power station setup. I plan to run half bins on both sides of my RSI SmartCap. I will mount my on board air system on one side and do a power setup on the other. For the power side I'm thinking about running a 25-40ah LiFePO4 battery connected to my 100w solar panel. That will run...
How big of a trailer?
When we were in the area back in 2019, I had planned on dispersed camping around Grassy Lake Reservoir between the two parks, but the road going into it was closed at that time. We ended up staying in one of the free park campsites along that same road ( 44.08565...
And finally, some overlanding type images...
And this last one is an outtake from when I was setting up a "selfie" of my son and I. I did not know he had done this until I processed the images about week or two later. It's one of my favorite family photos. lol
I almost switched to Spot as well, but had heard bad things about the service as well. The other thing that kept me with the InReach was the ability to pair it to my tablet for much easier use (signal based stuff is still slow though).
I also use a Gaia/Mini combo for my travels. The Mini is just used for communications and a backup track recording (I start it when I leave the house and turn if off when I get back home). All of my planning, routing, and active tracking (daily segments and such) are done on my tablet via...
Hey @Roloc , any chance you can measure the distance between the front of the half bin and the cab bed wall? I'm thinking I might want to section that area off as a kennel for my dog and want to get an idea of how much space he would have. Thanks.
Maybe my best option is just going to be a pair of Rino radios (an older model perhaps to lower costs) and a vehicle mounted GMRS radio as a base unit. That way I could use the base unit for vehicle to vehicle comms and have it connected to an external speaker while in camp. If I needed to...
The pet tracker had crossed my mind, but they all require a monthly or annual service plan. I'd really rather just have one device (the radio) that would allow communication and tracking/finding and just pay the one time to buy it.
It does not seem like the Tread will really fit my needs, but I wonder how the Tread communicates with the Rino radios since they are on different frequencies.
The Tread does look interesting, but as BCNP mentioned, it is not GMRS. It also appears to use the buddy location feature, both people have to be using a Tread device which would not work for my kid (who is 11) going exploring since this device appears to be vehicle mounted only and not hand...
